Suitability of HEC-RAS for Flood Forecasting [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Water Resources Journal, 2005
At present, most river flood forecasts are conducted using a two-step procedure. First, flood routing is conducted, normally using hydrological models. The resulting flood peaks are then converted to water level forecasts using a steady flow hydraulic model, such as HEC-RAS.

Flood risk modeling using HEC-RAS and geospatial techniques [PDF]

open access: yesE-Zbornik, elektronički zbornik radova Građevinskog fakulteta, 2021
Flooding is a natural disaster that can ruin natural resources, cause casualties, and harm the environment. Floods are known for their deadly and destructive impacts. To predict important information about flooding, such as the extent of inundation and water surface elevations at specific locations, hydraulic modeling and Flood Inundation Mapping (FIM)

Stream channel storage: Closing the watershed total phosphorus budget. [PDF]

open access: yesJ Environ Qual
Abstract A 3‐year total phosphorus (TP) budget was created for Walnut Creek, a ∼5200 ha agricultural watershed in central Iowa. The budget, developed from measures of streambank erosion, overland flow, baseflow, and flux to floodplain storage, was created with the specific goal of estimating in‐channel storage contributions to annual TP loads—a ...
