Identification and estimation of hedonic models [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Political Economy, 2003
This paper considers the identification and estimation of hedonic models. We establish that in an additive version of the hedonic model, technology and preferences are generically identified up to affine transformations from data on demand and supply in a single hedonic market.

The Age–Period–Cohort Problem in Hedonic House Prices Models

open access: yesEconometrics, 2022
The age–period–cohort problem has been studied for decades but without resolution. There have been many suggested solutions to make the three effects estimable, but these solutions mostly exploit non-linear specifications.

Are Hedonic Models Really Quality-Adjusted? The Role of Apartment Quality in Hedonic Models of Housing Rental Market

open access: yesReal Estate Management and Valuation
In micro-level data concerning the housing market, the apartment quality may be signaled via textual statements or the attached descriptions/photos. It may be done using hard information related to the easier-to-measure structural characteristics or soft

Identifying hedonic models [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Economic Review, 2002
Economic models for hedonic markets characterize the pricing of bundles of attributes and the demand and supply of these attributes under different assumptions about market structure, preferences and technology. (See Jan Tinbergen, 1956, Sherwin Rosen, 1974 and Dennis Epple, 1987, for contributions to this literature).

Sustainability hedonic environmental models applied to wineries [PDF]

open access: yesCiência e Técnica Vitivinícola, 2023
This study introduced the application of a new methodology to the assessment of sustainability for wineries in Spain. It adapted Rosen’s hedonic models, developed in other areas of the economy, to explain the environmental commitment of wineries in terms

On the Estimation of Structural Hedonic Price Models [PDF]

open access: yesEconometrica, 1982
MANY COMMODITIES can be viewed as bundles of individual attributes for which no explicit markets exist. It is often of interest to estimate structural demand and supply functions for these attributes, but the absence of directly observable attribute prices poses a problem for such estimation.

Simulation and Estimation of Hedonic Models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Making use of restrictions imposed by equilibrium, theoretical progress has been made on the nonparametric and semiparametric estimation and identification of scalar additive hedonic models (Ekeland, Heckman, and Nesheim, 2002) and scalar nonadditive hedonic models (Heckman, Matzkin, and Nesheim, 2002).

Architectural Factors Influencing a Housing Market Value: A Theoretical Framework

open access: yesReal Estate Management and Valuation, 2023
A housing price, not considering its change over time, is widely determined by hedonic properties. This is common in literature; however, there is a significant part of a price, the so-called unexplained variance, that is not captured by hedonic models ...

Determinants of Purebred Beef Bull Price Differentials

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, 1996
Bulls are an important investment for commercial beef cattle producers since, over time, bulls introduce most of the new genetic attributes into typical beef cow herds. Therefore, heritable bull traits determine bull prices.
