What Distinguishes Summer Extreme Precipitation From Non‐Extreme Precipitation Over the Tibetan Plateau?

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters
This study focuses on the primary synoptic‐scale patterns and precursors of extreme and non‐extreme precipitation over the Tibetan Plateau (TP). Atmospheric circulation anomalies and their precursors associated with regional extreme precipitation events (

Stratosphere troposphere coupling: the influence of volcanic eruptions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Stratospheric sulfate aerosols produced by major volcanic eruptions modify the radiative and dynamical properties of the troposphere and stratosphere through their reflection of solar radiation and absorption of infrared radiation. At the Earth's surface,

Study of Ni and Zn doped CeOFeAs: Effect on the structural transition and specific heat capacity

open access: yes, 2013
We have systematically studied the substitution of nonmagnetic Zn and magnetic Ni at iron sites in Ce based oxypnictide. The parent compound (CeOFeAs) shows an anomaly in resistivity around 150 K due to structural transition from tetragonal (space group:

Room‐Temperature Antiferroelectricity in Titanite (CaTiSiO5) Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This study reports the first fabrication of titanite films featuring 1D chains of oxygen octahedra, along with the first observation of their antiferroelectric behavior at room temperature. A field‐induced ferroelectric phase is observed at ∼430 kV/cm, which is not reported in bulk titanite.

A technique for computing geoid height anomalies over two-dimensional earth models [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Journal International, 1982
Summary A technique is presented for calculating geoid height anomalies over two-dimensional models of Earth structure. The method consists of convolving gravity anomalies over the structure with filters which take into account the finite size of the structure in the third dimension and the curvature of the Earth. Similar filters are also developed for

Terahertz Channel Modeling, Estimation and Localization in RIS‐Assisted Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
Reconfigurable intelligent surfaces have become a recent intensive research focus. Based on practical applications, channel strategies for RIS‐assisted terahertz wireless communication systems are categorized into three different types: channel modeling, channel estimation, and channel localization.

Topographic Effects in Geoid Determinations

open access: yesGeosciences, 2018
Traditionally, geoid determination is applied by Stokes’ formula with gravity anomalies after removal of the attraction of the topography by a simple or refined Bouguer correction, and restoration of topography by the primary indirect topographic ...

Toward a Rational Design of Conjugated Copolymers with Oxygenated Side Chains for Boosting Thermoelectric Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
The molecular design strategy that integrates both side chain and backbone engineering in diketopyrrolopyrrole‐based conjugated polymers to identify the optimal balance between doping efficiency and microstructural order is demonstrated. Comprehensive spectroscopic, electrochemical, morphological, and structural characterizations reveal that the ...

Gravimetric Model of Quasigeoid in the Area of Slovakia [PDF]

open access: yesActa Montanistica Slovaca, 2005
The gravimetric model of quasigeoid in the area of Slovakia was determined by using the revised and homogenised gravity mapping data in the scale of 1:25 000 from the area of Slovakia, and by using the mean Bouguer gravity anomalies with the resolution ...

Anomalies and O-plane charges in orientifolded brane tilings

open access: yes, 2008
We investigate orientifold of brane tilings. We clarify how the cancellations of gauge anomaly and Witten's anomaly are guaranteed by the conservation of the D5-brane charge.
