Accuracy assessment of GOCE-based geopotential models and their use for modelling the gravimetric quasigeoid - A case study for Poland

open access: yesGeodesy and Cartography, 2014
Misja GOCE (Gravity Field and Steady-State Ocean Circulation Explorer) przyczyniła się do znacznego poprawienia znajomości pola siły ciężkości Ziemi. W artykule przedstawiono wyniki oszacowania dokładności anomalii wysokości, wyznaczonych z globalnych ...

Eclipse Ice Core Accumulation and Stable Isotope Variability as an Indicator of North Pacific Climate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The high accumulation rate and negligible amount of melt at Eclipse Icefield (3017 m) in the Saint Elias Range of Yukon, Canada, allows for the preservation of a high-resolution isotopic and glaciochemical records valuable for reconstruction of climatic ...

Solar wind-driven geopotential height anomalies originate in the Antarctic lower troposphere [PDF]

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2014
We use National Centers for Environmental Prediction/National Center for Atmospheric Research reanalysis data to estimate the altitude and time lag dependence of the correlation between the interplanetary magnetic field component, By, and the geopotential height anomaly above Antarctica.

Quantification of the extremely intensified East Korea Warm Current in the summer of 2021: offshore and coastal variabilities

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science, 2023
In this study, we investigate the record-breaking intensification and abrupt weakening of the East Korea Warm Current (EKWC) in the summer of 2021. We analyzed the ocean data assimilation products resolving this event to examine the association between ...

Height anomalies in tapping mode atomic force microscopy in air caused by adhesion [PDF]

open access: yesUltramicroscopy, 1997
Height anomalies in tapping mode atomic force microscopy (AFM) in air are shown to be caused by adhesion. Depending on the damping of the oscillation the height of a sticking surface is reduced compared to less sticking surfaces. It is shown that the height artefacts result from a modulation of oscillatory movement of the cantilever.

Adjustment of the basin-scale circulation at 26 degrees N to variations in Gulf Stream, deep western boundary current and Ekman transports as observed by the Rapid array [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The Rapid instrument array across the Atlantic Ocean along 26 degrees N provides unprecedented monitoring of the basin-scale circulation. A unique feature of the Rapid array is the combination of full-depth moorings with instruments measuring temperature,

Response of vegetation to the 2003 European drought was mitigated by height [PDF]

open access: yesBiogeosciences, 2014
The effects on climate of land-cover change, predominantly from the conversion of forests to crops or grassland, are reasonably well understood for low and high latitudes but are largely unknown for temperate latitudes.

An analysis of the characteristics of crustal magnetic anomaly in China based on CHAMP satellite data

open access: yesGeodesy and Geodynamics, 2018
Based on the observation data of CHAMP satellite from 2006 to 2009, a 2D crustal magnetic anomaly model in China is established to study the distribution characteristics of crustal magnetic anomaly. In this paper, the 2D anomaly model is derived from the

Response of Pacific-sector Antarctic ice shelves to the El Niño/Southern Oscillation. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Satellite observations over the past two decades have revealed increasing loss of grounded ice in West Antarctica, associated with floating ice shelves that have been thinning.

Characteristics of Extreme Drought in Central and Western Asia and Its Relationship with Tropical Sea Surface Temperature

open access: yesGaoyuan qixiang, 2022
As a hub of the “Belt and Road” (B&R), Central and West Asia (CWA) was significantly threatened by droughts. The study of drought that occurs in CWA is of great value to the successful implementation of B&R.This work analyzed the main characteristics of ...
