Characterization of a plant‐pathogenic T3SS‐lacking Xanthomonas strain isolated from common ragweed

open access: yesPlant Pathology, Volume 74, Issue 2, Page 308-319, February 2025.
We isolated a pathogenic Xanthomonas strain from common ragweed. In this study, we explore its bioherbicide potential, host‐specificity, and the virulence determinants encoded in its genome. Abstract Common ragweed (Ambrosia artemisiifolia) is one of the leading causes of allergenic rhinitis, as well as a major weed of many crops.

Effective strategies for isolating DNA from members of Asteraceae with high concentrations of secondary metabolites

open access: yesBioTechniques, 2022
The Asteraceae are the largest plant family but among the least studied at the genome level. Our work investigated practical methods to reduce the influence of secondary metabolites – specifically, phenolic compounds – on the extraction of DNA from ...

Nuclear phylogenomics of angiosperms and insights into their relationships and evolution

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, Volume 66, Issue 3, Page 546-578, March 2024.
This review synthesizes numerous nuclear phylogenomic analyses of angiosperms (analyses that resolved the relationships of major clades, most orders, and many families and subgroups) and discusses the improved understanding of angiosperm biogeography, diversification dynamics, and character evolution.
