Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.)

2014
Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) is still considered as a recalcitrant species to in vitro culture and transformation in spite of the publication of different protocols. Here we describe a routine transformation system of this crop which requires mature HA89 genotype seeds and Agrobacterium tumefaciens EHA105 strain for gene delivery, being both easily

Characterization of Helianthus annuus L. storage proteins

Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1989
A rapid method is described for isolating the globulin fraction (helianthinin) of sunflower seeds (Helianthus annum L.). The protein was characterized by chromatography and electrophoresis and compared with the globulin extracted from protein bodies.

Neue sterine in Helianthus annuus

Phytochemistry, 1973
Six Δ7-sterols were isolated from sunflower seed oil by preparative TLC. On the basis of physica and chemical data five of the Δ7-sterols were identified: Δ7-stigmastenol, Δ7-campestenol, Δ7,24(28)-stigma-stadienol, Δ7,24(25)-stigmastadienol, and Δ7,9(11),24(28)-stigmastatrienol. The last two sterols have not previously been detected in nature.
