The effect of anisotropic systematic errors in estimating helical angles
Computer Methods in Biomechanics and Biomedical Engineering, 2008A common question in movement studies is how the results should be interpreted with respect to systematic and random errors. In this study, simulations are made in order to see how a rigid body's orientation in space (i.e. helical angle between two orientations) is affected by (1) a systematic error added to a single marker (2) a combination of this ...

Nanotube-Substrate Interactions: Distinguishing Carbon Nanotubes by the Helical Angle
Physical Review Letters, 2004We investigate the interaction of a carbon nanotube with a graphite substrate, using an interlayer potential that explicitly treats the registry dependence of the interaction. The carbon-carbon bond lengths in nanotubes differ slightly from those in flat graphite, so that the naively commensurate angular orientations for the tube with respect to the ...

Checking the slope angle of helical gear teeth
Measurement Techniques, 1960The above method of checking has provided the plant, which has no special instruments for this purpose, with the means of discovering and elminating large errors which arise during the setting or resetting of machines, and also provided it with a better control of the cutting tools by their geometrical parameters thus greatly improving the machining ...

Design and Manufacture of Helical Planetary Gear Reducer with Small Module and Big Helical Angle
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2011Aiming at the helical planetary gear reducer with the small module (m≤0.8mm) and big helical angle (β≥20°) applied widely, a novel method of the design and manufacture is come up. The developed reducer matched with the suitable motor not only reduces output speed and inertia of the motor, but also increases greatly stability of tooth meshing.

Optical extraction of the helical pitch angle of amylopectin in starch
SPIE Proceedings, 2010Starch is one of the major constituents of our everyday diet and it forms granules. Starch granules are basically consisting of amylose and amylopectin molecules and they are among the brightest nature-made second harmonic generation (SHG) converters.

Study on Rotating Cutters with Different Definitions of Helical Angle
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2001This paper presents the similarities and differences of the design models of the cutting edge and flute section corresponding to the different definitions of the helical angle. The correlative models and simulation results for the cutting edge are presented.

Short helical antenna with extremely small pitch angle
Microwave and Optical Technology Letters, 2006AbstractA 2‐turn helical antenna with small pitch angle between 0.6° and 3° has been studied as a radiation element of circular polarization waves in this article. The antenna with pitch angle 2° exhibits a 3‐dB axial ratio bandwidth of 9.8%, and the optimal axial ratio of 0.1 dB.

Helical Taper Reamers Milled With Constant Helix Angle
Journal of Fluids Engineering, 1945Abstract The author explains the process of milling helical flutes on a taper reamer so that the flute will have a constant helix angle of 45 deg at every point along the length of the reamer. The problem is solved by the development of a former or master cam cylindrical in shape and bearing upon its lateral surface a helical groove such
