Moderate hemoptysis caused by Hughes-Stovin syndrome

open access: yesClinics and Practice, 2014
Hughes and Stovin first reported a syndrome consisting of multiple pulmonary artery aneurysms and venous thrombosis in 1959. Here, we encountered a 42-year old woman who had hemoptysis revealing a Hughes- Stovin syndrome.

The effect and stability of MVCT images on adaptive TomoTherapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Use of helical TomoTherapy-based MVCT imaging for adaptive planning is becoming increasingly popular. Treatment planning and dose calculations based on MVCT require an image value to electron density calibration to remain stable over the course of ...

Computed tomography in the diagnosis of steroidal hepatopathy in a dog: case report

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2011
It is reported a case of an eight-year-old Yorkshire Terrier dog, with a history of prolonged use of prednisone in a dosage of 1mg/kg of body weight each 24 hours during two years.

Relationship between primary liver hepatocellular carcinoma volumes on portal-venous phase CT imaging [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The liver is an important organ in the body. It is located under the rib cage on the right side. The liver performs many important functions, it processes food for nutrients that the body requires and also helps in the detoxification of harmful materials.

Preservative Approach to Study Encased Archaeological Artefacts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
International audienceWe propose a workflow based on a combination of computed tomography, 3D images and 3D printing to analyse different archaeological material dating from the Iron Age, a weight axis, a helical piece, and a fibula.

3PI algorithms for helical computer tomography

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 2006
AbstractProposed are two theoretically exact convolution-based filtered backprojection inversion algorithms for helical computer tomography. An important feature of the algorithms is that they operate in the 3PI mode, which allows use of redundant data for the purpose of improving image quality. Results of a numerical experiment are presented.

Four-Dimensional Cardiac Image by Helical Computed Tomography [PDF]

open access: yesCirculation, 1999
Ultrasound and MRI are useful in assessing wall motion and systolic thickening with 2D images. Volumetric data of the helical CT provide frozen 3D images. We sought to determine whether helical CT could assess left ventricular wall motion with 3D animation.

EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Quasi-Exact Helical Cone Beam Reconstruction for Micro CT [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A cone beam micro-CT system is set up to collect truncated helical cone beam data. This system includes a micro-focal X-ray source, a precision computer-controlled X-Y-Z-theta stage, and an image-intensifier coupled to a large format CCD detector.

Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.
