Is 3D-CT reformation using free software applicable to diagnosis of bone changes in mandibular condyles?

open access: yesJournal of Applied Oral Science, 2009
OBJECTIVES: This study evaluated the agreement of computed tomography (CT) imaging using 3D reformations (3DR) with shaded surface display (SSD) and maximum intensity projection (MIP) in the diagnosis of bone changes in mandibular condyles of patients ...

3PI algorithms for helical computer tomography

open access: yesAdvances in Applied Mathematics, 2006
AbstractProposed are two theoretically exact convolution-based filtered backprojection inversion algorithms for helical computer tomography. An important feature of the algorithms is that they operate in the 3PI mode, which allows use of redundant data for the purpose of improving image quality. Results of a numerical experiment are presented.

A Comparative Study for 2D and 3D Computer-aided Diagnosis Methods for Solitary Pulmonary Nodules [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Many computer-aided diagnosis (CAD) methods, including 2D and 3D approaches, have been proposed for solitary pulmonary nodules (SPNs). However, the detection and diagnosis of SPNs remain challenging in many clinical circumstances.

An automated system for lung nodule detection in low-dose computed tomography

open access: yes, 2007
A computer-aided detection (CAD) system for the identification of pulmonary nodules in low-dose multi-detector helical Computed Tomography (CT) images was developed in the framework of the MAGIC-5 Italian project. One of the main goals of this project is

Pre-operative diagnosis and successful surgery of a strangulated internal hernia through a defect in the falciform ligament: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports, 2012
Introduction Internal hernia within the falciform ligament is exceedingly rare. A literature search revealed only 14 cases of internal herniation of the small bowel through a congenital defect of the falciform ligament, most of which were found intra ...
