Josephson coupling across magnetic topological insulator MnBi2Te4

open access: yesCommunications Materials
Topological superconductors hosting Majorana zero modes are of great interest for both fundamental physics and potential quantum computing applications. In this work, we investigate the transport properties of the intrinsic magnetic topological insulator

Emergence of Large-Scale Magnetic-Vortices Structures by Small-Scale Helicity in Stratified Magnetized Plasma

open access: yesEast European Journal of Physics
In this paper, a new type of instability is identified, leading to the generation of vortex motions and magnetic fields in a plasma layer with a constant temperature gradient, subjected to uniform gravity and a vertical magnetic field.

The Hidden Magnetic Structures of a Solar Intermediate Filament Revealed by the Injected Flare Material

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Solar filaments are spectacular objects in the solar atmosphere, consisting of accumulations of cool, dense, and partially ionized plasma suspended in the hot solar corona against gravity. The magnetic structures that support the filament material remain

Bead-Based Hydrodynamic Simulations of Rigid Magnetic Micropropellers

open access: yesFrontiers in Robotics and AI, 2018
The field of synthetic microswimmers, micro-robots moving in aqueous environments, has evolved significantly in the last years. Micro-robots actuated and steered by external magnetic fields are of particular interest because of the biocompatibility of ...

Quadratic helicities and the energy of magnetic fields [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Steklov Institute of Mathematics, 2012
Two non-local asymptotic invariants of magnetic fields for the ideal magnetohydrodynamics are introduced. The velocity of variation of the invariants for a non-ideal magnetohydrodynamics with a small magnetic dissipation is estimated. By means of the invariants the spectra of electromagnetic fields are investigated.

Quantum spin Hall effect in magnetic graphene

open access: yesNature Communications
A promising approach to attain long-distance coherent spin propagation is accessing topological spin-polarized edge states in graphene. Achieving this without external magnetic fields necessitates engineering graphene band structure, obtainable through ...

Incommensurate magnetic order in an axion insulator candidate EuIn2As2 investigated by NMR measurement

open access: yesnpj Quantum Materials
Magnetic topological insulators exhibit unique electronic states due to the interplay between the electronic topology and the spin structure. The antiferromagnetic metal EuIn2As2 is a prominent candidate material in which exotic topological phases ...

Biotemplated flagellar nanoswimmers

open access: yesAPL Materials, 2017
In this article, a porous hollow biotemplated nanoscale helix that can serve as a low Reynolds number robotic swimmer is reported. The nanorobot utilizes repolymerized bacterial flagella from Salmonella typhimurium as a nanotemplate for biomineralization.

Selective-collective scalable locomotion control of helical magnetic swimmers within confined channels using global magnetic fields

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
Achieving selective-individual and collective control over multiple magnetic microrobots remains a formidable challenge. Existing techniques for controlling identical magnetic swimmers are often limited to two-dimensional, small working spaces, while ...

Subgrid Mean-field Dynamo Model with Dynamical Quenching in General Relativistic Magnetohydrodynamic Simulations

open access: yesThe Astrophysical Journal
Large-scale magnetic fields are relevant for a number of dynamical processes in accretion disks, including driving turbulence, reconnection events, and launching outflows. Numerical simulations have indicated that the initial strengths and configurations
