UNDERSTANDING THE SEISMIC RESPONSE OF SINGLE HELICAL PILES IN DRY SANDS USING A LARGE-SCALE SHAKE TABLE TEST [PDF]
Helical piles are deep foundations composed by a steel shaft and single or multiple helical plates welded at their tip or throughout their lead section, respectively, which allows them to be screwed into the ground during installation, producing minimum ...

Mask‐encoded UV exposure translates digital color information into pixel‐resolved structural‐color patterns in hydroxypropyl cellulose gels. Gaussian‐process‐guided calibration links UV processing conditions, wavelength, and mask opacity, enabling parallel fabrication of multicolor images in a single 10 s exposure.

Switching Superconductivity with Uniaxial Strain in a high‐Tc${\rm T}_{c}$ Cuprate Superconductor
Uniaxial strain is demonstrated as a new scheme for a superconductivity switch. Exploiting the large strain‐induced Tc shift in a cuprate superconductor enables robust switching between superconducting and normal states over 100 cycles with only 0.1% strain.

Development of LRFD Procedures for Bridge Pile Foundations in Iowa Final Report, June 2010 [PDF]
For well over 100 years, the Working Stress Design (WSD) approach has been the traditional basis for geotechnical design with regard to settlements or failure conditions.

A dynamic interfacial semi‐interpenetrating polymer network is constructed by sequential assembly of β‐sheet‐rich SF and CS‐RL. The SF framework provides mechanical strength, while dynamically associated CS‐RL enables local rearrangement, allowing droplets to rapidly reconfigure without loss of interfacial integrity.
