Metabolomic analysis of low and high biofilm-forming Helicobacter pylori strains

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
The biofilm-forming-capability of Helicobacter pylori has been suggested to be among factors influencing treatment outcome. However, H. pylori exhibit strain-to-strain differences in biofilm-forming-capability.

Pediatric intestinal pseudo‐obstruction found in 3‐year‐old male with Rett‐related mutation of methyl‐CpG binding protein 2

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract A 3‐year‐old male with chronic abdominal distention, constipation, and severe malnutrition is diagnosed with pediatric intestinal pseudo‐obstruction (PIPO) after extensive evaluation that excluded mechanical, malabsorptive, metabolic, inflammatory, and infectious causes. Aside from speech delay, he has a normal neurologic exam.

Changes in Plasma Sphingolipid Metabolites Following Roux‐En‐Y Gastric Bypass in Women With Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes: A Pilot Metabolomic Cohort Study

open access: yesLipids, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Although sphingolipids are key players in lipotoxicity and metabolic diseases, their response to bariatric surgery and their relation to metabolic improvement remain unclear. This pilot study investigated plasma sphingolipid remodeling after Roux‐en‐Y gastric bypass (RYGB) and its associations with clinical and biochemical markers of ...

Mapping protein–protein interactions by mass spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
Abstract Protein–protein interactions (PPIs) are essential for numerous biological activities, including signal transduction, transcription control, and metabolism. They play a pivotal role in the organization and function of the proteome, and their perturbation is associated with various diseases, such as cancer, neurodegeneration, and infectious ...

Quantifying Protein–Glycan Interactions Using Native Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesMass Spectrometry Reviews, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Interactions between glycan‐binding proteins (GBPs) and carbohydrates (glycans) are essential to many biological processes relevant to human health and disease. For most GBPs, however, their glycan interactome—the repertoire of glycans recognized and their specificities—is poorly defined.

Helicobacter pylori infection status and evolution of gastric cancer

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal
. Gastric cancer (GC) is a globally prevalent malignancy with a particularly heavy burden in China. Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is a Group I carcinogen for GC, with a higher seroprevalence rate indicating a higher GC incidence.
