Si/SiGe quantum dot with superconducting single-electron transistor charge sensor

open access: yes, 2011
We report a robust process for fabrication of surface-gated Si/SiGe quantum dots (QDs) with an integrated superconducting single-electron transistor (S-SET) charge sensor. A combination of a deep mesa etch and AlOx backfill is used to reduce gate leakage.

Asthma essentials

open access: yesAfrican Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2013
Asthma is a chronic, reversible obstructive disease that when in exacerbation can present to the emergency department in a spectrum of severity. Prompt recognition of the potentially severely ill asthmatic requires a careful history and physical exam ...

Helium-Oxigen (Heliox) mixture in airway obstruction

open access: yesJornal de Pediatria, 2000
OBJECTIVE: Demonstrate the effectiveness and the good outcome of the patients treated with helium-oxygen (Heliox) mixture. This mixture (Heliox) has been used in patients with airway obstruction, from different ethiologies, who did not respond to a conventional treatment with oxygen.

Subsea approach to work systems development [PDF]

open access: yes
Self-contained undersea working environments with applications to space station EVA environments are discussed. Physiological limitations include decompression, inert gas narcosis, high-pressure nervous system, gas toxicity, and thermal limitations. Work

Does heliox administered by low-flow nasal cannula improve respiratory distress in infants with respiratory syncytial virus acute bronchiolitis? A randomised controlled trial

open access: yesAnales de Pediatría (English Edition), 2019
Objectives: The aim of our study is to evaluate whether the use of heliox (79:21) delivered through a low flow nasal cannula would improve respiratory distress in infants with acute bronchiolitis caused by RSV.

Helij i ljudi [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018

Microwave-induced thermal escape in Josephson junctions

open access: yes, 2004
We investigate, by experiments and numerical simulations, thermal activation processes of Josephson tunnel junctions in the presence of microwave radiation. When the applied signal resonates with the Josephson plasma frequency oscillations, the switching

Spin and Orbital Splitting in Ferromagnetic Contacted Single Wall Carbon Nanotube Devices

open access: yes, 2013
We observed the coulomb blockade phenomena in ferromagnetic contacting single wall semiconducting carbon nanotube devices. No obvious Coulomb peaks shift was observed with existing only the Zeeman splitting at 4K.
