A high Nb-containing TiAl alloy Ti-45Al-8.5Nb-(W, B, Y) with nearly lamellar microstructure has been irradiated by 200 kV He2+ to a fluence of 1 × 1021 ions/m2 with a dose of about 1.1 dpa at 298 K and 773 K in this work.

Spectroscopy of Nonspherical Atomic Bubbles in Solid Helium [PDF]
We analyze the effect of the host crystal symmetry on the optical spectra of the 6P(1/2)-6S(1/2) and 6P(3/2)-6S(1/2) transitions of atomic Cs in solid (4)He matrices. In particular, we address the deformation of the bubble structures formed by Cs in such quantum crystals.

Molecular Dynamics Study of Helium Bubble Coalescence in Tungsten
In Tokamak fusion devices, tungsten divertor will be bombarded with low-energy high-flux helium ions, resulting in the formation of fuzzy nanostructures or pinhole-like surface damage on tungsten surface, which degrades the tungsten material properties ...

Cavitation pressure in liquid helium [PDF]
Recent experiments have suggested that, at low enough temperature, the homogeneous nucleation of bubbles occurs in liquid helium near the calculated spinodal limit. This was done in pure superfluid helium 4 and in pure normal liquid helium 3. However, in

Void Nucleation, Growth, and Coalescence in Irradiated Metals [PDF]
A novel computational treatment of dense, stiff, coupled reaction rate equations is introduced to study the nucleation, growth, and possible coalescence of cavities during neutron irradiation of metals.

The helium effects in Chinese developed CN-G01 beryllium are important issues for its use in nuclear energy systems. In this work, the CN-G01 beryllium samples were irradiated with helium ions to fluences of 5.0 × 1016 ions/cm2 to 1.0 × 1018 ions/cm2 at ...

Molecular dynamics simulations of cascade overlap with Void/Helium bubble
When tungsten (W) is used as a plasma-facing material in fusion reactors, it will suffer irradiation from the high-energy neutron and high-flux low-energy helium (He) plasma, affording voids and He bubbles with varying helium-to-vacancy ratios (He/V ...

Helium irradiation effects in polycrystalline Si, silica, and single crystal Si [PDF]
Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) has been used to investigate the effects of room temperature 6 keV helium ion irradiation of a thin (≈55 nm thick) tri-layer consisting of polycrystalline Si, silica, and single-crystal Si.

Model for the Formation of Helium Bubbles in Palladium
In implantation experiments or in the inner wall of the vessel of nuclear reactors, irradiation of metals with helium damages the material by forming defects. We focus on studying the formation of He bubbles by analyzing the energetics of He atoms in bulk palladium and present a simple model for bubble formation.
