White Light Generation From YAG:Ce‐Doped Phosphate Glass‐Based Composite Fibers

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
The first white‐light‐emitting composite fiber based on YAG:Ce3+ phosphors in phosphate glass is developed. The glass composition is custom‐engineered to enhance thermal stability and to match YAG:Ce3+ refractive index, ensuring composite transparency.

Iron Overload Mediates the Differential Cell Fate of Astrocytes from Neurons and Its Regulatory Mechanisms in Ischemic Stroke

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Upon ischemia/reperfusion‐induced iron overload condition, neurons and astrocytes exhibit similar oxidative stress changes but opposite alterations in endogenous antioxidant defense mechanisms, leading to divergent ferroptotic outcomes. The iron deposition and neuronal loss are increased within the perilesional cortex of stroke patients ...

Advances in research on noble gas as tracers of geofluids and helium enrichment

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
BackgroundNoble gases emerge as significant tools for tracing the sources and evolutionary processes of geofluids due to their chemical inertness and different isotopic compositions across varying reservoirs.

Cryogenic liquid-jet breakup in two-fluid atomizers [PDF]

open access: yes
A two-fluid atomizer was used to study the breakup of liquid-nitrogen jets in nitrogen, argon, and helium atomizing gas flows. A scattered-light scanner particle sizing instrument previously developed at NASA Lewis Research Center was further developed ...

Cryogenic filter method produces super-pure helium and helium isotopes [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
Helium is purified when cooled in a low pressure environment until it becomes superfluid. The liquid helium is then filtered through iron oxide particles.

NAD⁺ Reduction in Glutamatergic Neurons Induces Lipid Catabolism and Neuroinflammation in the Brain via SARM1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
NAD⁺ homeostasis maintains neuronal integrity through opposing actions of NMNAT2 and SARM1. Loss of NMNAT2 in glutamatergic neurons reprograms cortical metabolism from glucose to lipid catabolism, depletes lipid stores, and triggers inflammation and neurodegeneration.
