Experimental Investigation on Pressure Drops of Purge Gas Helium in Packed Pebble Beds for Nuclear Fusion Blanket

open access: yesEnergies
The flow characteristics of purge gas helium in the pebble bed of the tritium breeding blanket are important in analyzing the tritium purging process and optimizing the design of the solid breeder blanket.

Spectroscopy and Dynamics of a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas on top of Ultrathin Helium Films on Cu(111)

open access: yes, 2016
Electrons in image-potential states on the surface of bulk helium represent a unique model system of a two-dimensional electron gas. Here, we investigate their properties in the extreme case of reduced film thickness: a monolayer of helium physisorbed on

Parvalbumin Interneuron‐Dependent Hippocampal Neurogenesis Evoked by Prolonged Rhythmic Light Flicker

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that prolonged rhythmic 40 Hz light flicker enhances spatial learning by stimulating PV interneuron‐dependent neurogenesis. The light flicker selectively activates PV interneurons, which enhances GABAergic support for the integration of immature neurons in the adult dentate gyrus.

Helium enrichment theory and exploration ideas for helium-rich gas reservoirs

open access: yesPetroleum Exploration and Development
Using gas and rock samples from major petroliferous basins in the world, the helium content, composition, isotopic compositions and the U and Th contents in rocks are analyzed to clarify the helium enrichment mechanism and distribution pattern and the ...

Cryostat system for temperatures on the order of 2 deg K or less [PDF]

open access: yes, 1976
A cryostat system for cooling a device to a temperature on the order of 2 K or less includes a dewar, in which helium, in other than the superfluid state, is stored.

Discovery of underground argon with low level of radioactive 39Ar and possible applications to WIMP dark matter detectors

open access: yes, 2007
We report on the first measurement of 39Ar in argon from underground natural gas reservoirs. The gas stored in the US National Helium Reserve was found to contain a low level of 39Ar.

Helium production in natural gas reservoirs

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1982
About 11,000 published natural gas analyses of helium are used in the estimation of the average global scale accumulation and concentration of radiogenic helium in sediments. Simple lognormal statistics is employed to derive a net accumulation rate between 1 × 105 to 6.7 × 105 helium atoms per cubic meter of reservoir rock per second. This accumulation
