Helium Ionization in the Diffuse Ionized Gas surrounding UCHII regions [PDF]
We present measurements of the singly ionized helium to hydrogen ratio ($n_{He^+}/n_{H^+}$) toward diffuse gas surrounding three Ultra-Compact HII (UCHII ) regions: G10.15-0.34, G23.46-0.20 \& G29.96-0.02.

Semiclassical approach to the line shape [PDF]
We extend the results of Bakalov D., B.Jeziorski, T.Korona, K.Szalewicz, E.Tchoukova, Phys. Rev. Lett. {\bf 84} (2000) 2350, on one-photon electric dipole transition line shift and broadening to the case of two-photon transitions.

Sequestration of noble gases in giant planet interiors [PDF]
The Galileo probe showed that Jupiter's atmosphere is severely depleted in neon compared to protosolar values. We show, via ab initio simulations of the partitioning of neon between hydrogen and helium phases, that the observed depletion can be explained

Spectroscopy and Dynamics of a Two-Dimensional Electron Gas on top of Ultrathin Helium Films on Cu(111) [PDF]
Electrons in image-potential states on the surface of bulk helium represent a unique model system of a two-dimensional electron gas. Here, we investigate their properties in the extreme case of reduced film thickness: a monolayer of helium physisorbed on

Explanation of 100-fold reduction of spectral shifts for hydrogen on helium films [PDF]
We show that helium film-mediated hydrogen-hydrogen interactions account for a two orders of magnitude discrepancy between previous theory and recent experiments on cold collision shifts in spin-polarized hydrogen adsorbed on a helium film.

Reducing the hydrogen content in liquid helium [PDF]
Helium has the lowest boiling point of any element in nature at normal atmospheric pressure. Therefore, any unwanted substance like impurities present in liquid helium will be frozen and will be in solid form. Even if these solid impurities can be easily eliminated by filtering, liquid helium may contain a non-negligible quantity of molecular hydrogen.

Models of helium enrichment in helium-rich gas reservoirs of petroliferous basins in China
Owing to the characteristics of chemical inertness, low molecular weight, low boiling point, strong permeability and high heat conductivity, helium is extensively used in the fields of aerospace, low-temperature superconductivity, medicine and high tech,

Arc pressure and weld metal fluid flow whilst using alternating shielding gases Part 2 : arc force determination [PDF]
The transient variation of the shielding gas present in the alternating shielding gas process produces a dynamic action within the liquid weld metal. Flow vectors opposite in direction have been reported due to the various forces acting on the weld metal
