Source and primary factors controlling differential enrichment for helium in the Dongping gas field, Qaidam Basin

open access: yesMeitian dizhi yu kantan
BackgroundIn recent years, promising helium-rich natural gas shows have been discovered in the Dongping gas field. However, the helium resources in the gas field exhibit lateral heterogeneity and vertical differential accumulation in multiple sequences ...

Review of Membranes for Helium Separation and Purification

open access: yesMembranes, 2017
Membrane gas separation has potential for the recovery and purification of helium, because the majority of membranes have selectivity for helium. This review reports on the current state of the research and patent literature for membranes undertaking ...

Helium Suicide, a Rapid and Painless Asphyxia: Toxicological Findings

open access: yesToxics, 2022
Suicide by helium inhalation has become increasingly common in the last few decades in Europe and the US because it produces a quick and painless death. Inhaled-gas suicides can easily be assessed through death scene investigation and autopsy.

An In Situ Study of the Topochemical Transformation of Hybrid Layered Hydroxides Into Metallic Nanocomposites

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Herein, the topochemical transformation of cobalt‐based layered hydroxides into nanocomposites is investigated using advanced real‐time characterization techniques combined with thermogravimetric analysis. The study reveals how interlayer carboxylic acids direct the transformation pathway, highlighting the role of carbon content and anion length. These

Comparison of helium source characteristics between geothermal water-dissolved type and natural gas-associated type: A case study of Weihe Basin and northern Ordos Basin [PDF]

open access: yesYouqicang pingjia yu kaifa
Helium is a rare inert gas with indispensable applications in defense, aerospace, and medicine. However, helium resources available for use in China are extremely limited. To date, no independently accumulated helium resources have been found.

Charge dependence of neoclassical and turbulent transport of light impurities on MAST [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Carbon and nitrogen impurity transport coefficients are determined from gas puff experiments carried out during repeat L-mode discharges on the Mega-Amp Spherical Tokamak (MAST) and compared against a previous analysis of helium impurity transport on ...

Helium gas evacuation in superconducting RFQ structure [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 1999 Particle Accelerator Conference (Cat. No.99CH36366), 2003
The PIAVE injector for the Legnaro Accelerator complex is an accelerating machine made of superconducting resonators. One of them, the superconducting RFQ, needs to be cooled by the helium bath on the whole outer surfaces. In particular the region of the electrode tips and the lower vertical electrode are involved in RF power dissipation and can have a

Molecular Cross‐Linking of MXenes: Tunable Interfaces and Chemiresistive Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, Ti3C2Tx MXenes are initially functionalized using oleylamine ligands to form stable dispersions in an organic solvent. Subsequently ligand exchange with α,ω‐diaminoalkanes enables cross‐linking, along with precise tuning of interfaces. This structural control translates into tunable charge transport and responsive VOC sensing, showing ...

Temperature control of a cryogenic bath [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Foreign gas introduced into vapor phase above liquid region cools cryogenic baths. Equipment consists of gas tank and cover of styrofoam. Helium is considered the best choice to produce cooling, though any gas with boiling point lower than that of bath ...

Anomalous Stiffening of a Conjugated Polymer During Electrochemical Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The electromechanical response of a thienothiophene‐based conjugated polymer with triethylene glycol side chains is investigated. Electrochemical nanoindentation and atomic force microscopy reveal a modest and reversible increase in elastic modulus at room temperature upon electrochemical oxidation.
