Deuterium and helium desorption/retention properties of low-activation vanadium alloys possible for reuse in a short time in fusion reactors

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy
Low-activation vanadium (V) alloys are alternative to the reduced-activation ferritic/martensitic steels due to their high-temperature strength, superior irradiation properties and non-magnetic characteristics.

Impact of plastic deformation on retention under pure D or He high flux plasma expose

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2018
The retention of deuterium (D) and helium (He) is studied in pure tungsten after high flux mono-plasma exposure. The recrystallized and plastically deformed tungsten samples are studied to clarify the impact of the material microstructure, in particular ...

Ga Doping Enables Precision Alloy‐to‐Wire Regulation: Synergistic Enhancement of the Mechanical Properties of CuSn Alloy and the Superconducting Properties of Nb3Sn

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
By adjusting Ga's doping in Cu–Sn alloy, an ultra‐high elongation of 100.8% is achieved in first time. Ga forms a stable solid solution structure and a stronger electron exchange with Cu. This enhances strength‐ductility synergistically by tuning SFE to balance twinning and slip.

Hydrogen bubble nucleation by self-clustering: Density Functional Theory and statistical models studies using tungsten as a model system

open access: yes, 2017
Low-energy hydrogen irradiation is known to induce bubble formation in tungsten, while its atomistic mechanisms remain little understood. Using first-principles calculations and statistical models, we studied the self-clustering behavior of hydrogen in ...

In Situ X‐Ray Tomography and Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Damage Evolution in C/C‐SiC Composites Fabricated by Liquid Silicon Infiltration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates how the internal structure of fiber‐reinforced ceramic composites affects their resistance to damage. By combining 3D X‐ray imaging with acoustic emission monitoring during mechanical testing, it reveals how silicon distribution influences crack formation.

Surface or bulk He existence effect on deuterium retention in Fe ion damaged W

open access: yesNuclear Materials and Energy, 2018
To evaluate Helium (He) effect on hydrogen isotope retention in tungsten (W), He+ was introduced into W bulk by 201 – 1000 keV He+, or W surface by 3 keV He+ for 6 MeV Fe ion damaged W at room temperature.
