The HELLP Syndrome Mimics Cholecystitis
Obstetrical & Gynecological Survey, 1988A case of the HELLP syndrome in a pregnant woman, which was diagnosed initially as obstructive cholecystitis, is presented. The diagnostic difficulties and some management problems are discussed. Practitioners should be aware of the HELLP syndrome and related conditions when caring for pregnant patients.

Biochemistry of Hellp Syndrome
2011The HELLP syndrome is a serious complication of pregnancy characterized by hemolysis (H), elevated liver (EL) enzymes, and low platelet (LP) count that occurs in 0.2-0.6% of all pregnancies and in 10-20% of cases with severe preeclampsia and frequently leads to adverse maternal and perinatal outcome.
