Leakage effect in Helmholtz resonators

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2009
The effect of leakage in Helmholtz resonators has been investigated in this predominantly experimental study combined with a computational effort. A prototype has been built with varying levels of intentional leakage due to holes in the baffle and gaps between the baffle and the housing.

Design of broadband Helmholtz resonator arrays using the radiation impedance method.

Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2022
This paper describes the design process of a low-frequency sound absorptive panel composed of differently tuned Helmholtz resonators (HRs), considering size and fabrication constraints relevant for applications in the building sector.

New-parallel connection of the Helmholtz resonator with embedded apertures for low-frequency broadband sound absorption

Japanese Journal of Applied Physics, 2022
We designed/proposed kinds of new-parallel connections of the Helmholtz resonator with embedded apertures (HREAs). The design rule of the resonator, aperture, and length of the embedded hole has much influence on the sound absorption characteristics of ...

Fiber-Optic Photoacoustic Gas Microsensor Dual Enhanced by Helmholtz Resonator and Interferometric Cantilever.

Analytical Chemistry
A high-sensitivity fiber-optic photoacoustic (PA) gas microsensor is demonstrated with dual enhancement based on acoustics and detection. Due to the characteristic of small size, a Helmholtz resonator is integrated into a miniature PA sensor.

Dual Helmholtz resonator

Applied Acoustics, 2010
Abstract Acoustic characteristics of a dual Helmholtz resonator which consists of a pair of cylindrical neck and cavity connected in series (neck–cavity–neck–cavity) are established primarily in terms of a lumped-parameter theory. The results are then compared to (a) a two-dimensional analytical approach by applying a pressure/velocity matching ...

A broadband low-frequency muffler based on neural network method and Helmholtz resonator with helical neck

Journal of Vibration and Control, 2022
In this study, a design method of broadband low-frequency muffler based on NN method and Helmholtz resonators with helical necks is proposed, which ensures almost perfect ventilation and broadband sound insulation in the low- and medium-frequency range ...

On the Helmholtz resonator

Journal of Sound and Vibration, 1976
Abstract This paper develops the theory of the excitation of a Helmholtz resonator by external disturbances located arbitrarily close to the mouth of the resonator. The classical approach of Rayleigh is thereby extended to situations in which the disturbance at the mouth is not necessarily equivalent to a uniform, time dependent pressure perturbation.

Helmholtz resonant simulator

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1989
For electronically reproducing the total sound produced by a musical instrument, the musical instrument comprises a plurality of components each of which produces one aspect of the total sound, an electronic acoustic reproduction system comprises vibration transducer means mounted on the instrument for receiving the one aspect of the total sound from ...
