Helmholtz resonator enhancement of photoacoustic signals
Applied Optics, 1981A Helmholtz resonator attached to a nonresonant photoacoustic cell enhances the responsivity to trace gas absorption by as much as a factor of 15.3. A simple system model based on a lumped parameter approach predicts the experimentally determined resonance frequency f(0) within 6% for all five resonator volumes tried and gives a pressure amplitude ...

Helmholtz resonator lined with absorbing material
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2005A closed-form, two-dimensional analytical solution is developed to investigate the acoustic performance of a concentric circular Helmholtz resonator lined with fibrous material. The effect of density and the thickness of the fibrous material in the cavity is examined on the resonance frequency and the transmission loss.

Differential Helmholtz resonator as an optoacoustic detector
Applied Optics, 1979Two identical optoacoustic cells are connected to give a Helmholtz resonator. The phase and magnitude of the signals from both cells are investigated. It is shown that an enhancement of the SNR is obtained using the phase properties of the signals.

Extraordinary transmission in optical Helmholtz resonators
Optics Letters, 2015Optical Helmholtz resonators (OHRs) have been adapted from acoustics designs for light absorbing structures, exhibiting extreme light confinement. Here, extraordinary transmission of light is theoretically demonstrated through symmetric OHRs, comprising a cavity with two λ/500 narrow slits on either side.

Helmholtz resonance effect in photoacoustic cells
Applied Optics, 1979Some types of photoacoustic spectroscopy sample cells exhibit acoustic resonances which are not explained by organ pipe or Bessel mode analysis. It is demonstrated here that one type of acoustic resonance encountered is explained by a Helmholtz resonator analysis.

A triple-resonant Janus-Helmholtz transducer
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of AmericaThe Janus–Helmholtz (JH) transducer is an underwater acoustic device that utilizes longitudinal resonance (LR) and liquid cavity resonance (LCR) to produce low-frequency, broadband acoustic emissions. However, attempts to enhance coupling with the flexural resonance (FR) of the radiation head have demonstrated that effective interaction between FR and ...
