Helminthosis in goats in southern Tanzania: Investigations on epidemiology and control
Tropical Animal Health and Production, 1990Investigations were conducted in naturally infected goats to determine the main epidemiological factors related to gastro-intestinal nematode infections in southern Tanzania with a view to making appropriate recommendations for control. Faecal worm egg counts rose during the single rainy season and then fell to remain low during the dry season.

Peri-parturient helminthosis in strains of small East African goats in Tanzania
Preventive Veterinary Medicine, 2001The effect of physiological status (e.g. pregnancy and lactation) on the susceptibility to gastrointestinal nematodes was studied in the Dodoma and Kigoma strains of small East African goats in Morogoro. Forty-six pregnant does (19 Dodoma and 27 Kigoma strain) and 123 non-pregnant/dry (68 Dodoma and 55 Kigoma) from a controlled-breeding programme were ...

Effect of Subclinical Helminthosis on nitrogen metobolism in beef cattle
The Journal of Agricultural Science, 1969SUMMARYThe differential effect of subclinical helminthosis on digestion and nitrogen metabolism in 1-year-old Brahman x Hereford/Shorthorn cross and British (Hereford/Shorthorn cross) steers was investigated. When helminths were present, the British steers had lower digestibilities of dry matter and nitrogen, lower nitrogen balances, and higher ...

Helminthosis in local and cross-bred pigs in the Morogoro region of Tanzania
Preventive Veterinary Medicine, 1997We investigated the prevalence, burden and types of gastro-intestinal helminths in 424 local and cross-bred pigs kept under different management systems in two climatic zones in the Morogoro region of Tanzania. Coprological examination revealed that 53% of the pigs excreted helminth eggs in their faeces. The median eggs per gram of faeces (EPG) was 500
