The Evolution of Giant Clam Science: From Foundational Studies to Emerging Frontiers

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 2, April 2026.
This review synthesizes nearly two centuries of giant clam research, identifying dominant themes, knowledge gaps, and emerging opportunities. Ecology, physiology, aquaculture, genomics, and biomineralization dominate the field, whereas anatomy and biotechnology remain underexplored. Future progress requires stronger integration of genomics, physiology,

Serum Negative Chronic Autoimmune Thyroiditis (SN‐CAT): A Case Report of Three Siblings Without Familial History of Autoimmune Thyroid Diseases (ATDs)

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
We report three siblings with antibody‐negative hypothyroidism and ultrasound features of autoimmune thyroiditis. Clinicians should consider serum negative chronic autoimmune thyroiditis (SN‐CAT) in pediatric hypothyroidism despite negative antibodies, particularly when imaging and biochemical findings are consistent, to avoid delayed diagnosis and ...

High‐Throughput Glucose Biosensing Using Jack Bean [Canavalia ensiformis (L.) DC.] Lectin as Electrochemical Signaling Element

open access: yesElectroanalysis, Volume 38, Issue 4, April 2026.
An electrochemical biosensor employing Canavalia ensiformis lectin immobilized on a Prussian Blue‐modified glassy carbon electrode was developed for label‐free glucose detection at submicromolar levels. The integration of lectin biorecognition with the conductive Prussian Blue layer ensured stable and selective signal transduction.

Idiotypes of anti-Ia antibodies. I. Expression of the 14-4-4S idiotype in humoral immune responses. [PDF]

open access: yes, 1981
The idiotype of a mouse monoclonal anti-I-E antibody, 14-4-4S, has been studied using a heterologous anti-idiotypic reagent. This antibody recognizes Ia.

Porphyromonas gingivalis Suppresses Interferon‐Gamma Signaling in Macrophages Through a Contact‐Dependent, Gingipain‐Mediated Mechanism

open access: yesMicrobiologyOpen, Volume 15, Issue 2, April 2026.
This study reveals that Porphyromonas gingivalis suppresses IFN‐γ signaling by downregulating STAT1 in macrophages. Gingipain protease activity and the Type IX Secretion System are essential for this immune evasion mechanism. These findings identify a novel bacterial strategy for host immune suppression and suggest new therapeutic targets for P ...

Accessing intractable, phosphorylated intrinsically disordered proteins via a protease‐cleavable inclusion body tag

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Phosphorylated intrinsically disordered proteins (IDPs), such as Bcl2‐associated agonist of cell death (BAD) and Tau, play critical roles in apoptosis and neurodegeneration, yet their instability during recombinant expression due to degradation, aggregation, and dephosphorylation, has limited structural and mechanistic studies.

Hydatid Cyst of the Right Atrium With Hepatic and Pulmonary Involvement and Concomitant Pulmonary Embolism, Presenting With Massive Haemoptysis: A Case Report

open access: yesRespirology Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 4, April 2026.
Transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) shows a large, well‐circumscribed multicystic mass with multiple internal cysts of varying sizes which represent daughter cysts involving the RA cavity, highly suggestive of hydatid cyst of right atrium, a rare phenomenon of cardiac Echinococcus.

Molecular Testing in Sickle Cell Disease: From Newborn Screening to Transfusion Care

open access: yesInternational Journal of Laboratory Hematology, Volume 48, Issue 2, Page 295-304, April 2026.
ABSTRACT Sickle cell disease (SCD) is one of the most frequent monogenic diseases worldwide and a highly heterogeneous and complex disease. SCD care carries several challenges. This includes early and accurate diagnosis as well as optimal red blood cell transfusion matching in this population carrying a high risk of alloimmunization.
