Hemangiopericytoma is a rare tumor of the central nervous system and has seldom been reported intraventricularly. A 55-year-old woman presented with gradual onset of left side weakness, gait ataxia, and tendency to miss objects in the left visual field of uncertain duration.

Intraocular Hemangiopericytoma

A 40-year-old woman had an intraocular lesion consistent with a choroidal hemangioma. Xenon arc photocoagulation was applied to reduce subretinal fluid, and the lesion remained stationary until the patient's death eight years later. The lesion was composed of spindle-shaped and ovoid cells with numerous inconspicuous capillaries.

AbstractMediastinal hemangiopericytoma (HPC) was diagnosed in a 3‐year‐old female. The incidence of this tumor is rare in children, and few data are available to guide clinical management. The surgical resection was incomplete and she received adjuvant radiation therapy and chemotherapy.

SUMMARYTwo cases of hemangiopericytoma are described, one lodging in the mediastinum and the other in the subcutaneous layer. Another case of multiple glomus tumors, earlier recorded by Bergstrand (5), is quoted. Among the latter re‐examination disclosed a tumor presenting the picture of hemangiopericytoma.

To report a case of an epibulbar hemangiopericytoma that appeared clinically as a firm nodule.We examined a 28-year-old man with a 5-year history of a gradually enlarging red, firm epibulbar nodule. Excisional biopsy was performed.Histopathology identified an encapsulated hemangiopericytoma.

A 10-year-old black girl complaining of pain and decreased vision in the left eye was found to have a smoothly elevated ciliochoroidal mass involving the superonasal quadrant of the left eye. The mass appeared circumscribed and uniformly dense by computed tomography.

Hemangiopericytoma (HPC) is an uncommon tumor of childhood.This paper summarizes our experience with 5 children with histologically proven HPC treated in a single institution, including 2 cases of congenital HPC. This tumor has varying clinical presentations and biological behavior. Congenital tumors have a better prognosis.

If meningeal hemangiopericytoma could be diagnosed prior to operation, the neurosurgeon might be better prepared to deal with excessive bleeding during the operation. This type of tumor should be completely excised because of the high risk of recurrence and remote metastasis.

Nasal Hemangiopericytoma

Nasal hemangiopericytoma is difficult to diagnose preoperatively or before examining a histologic specimen. It is a locally invasive tumor with an excellent five-year prognosis, but which requires lifetime follow-up. The patient reported was treated by aggressive local surgical treatment of the tumor followed by systemic therapy for multiple myeloma.
