Geniculate Artery Embolization: Role in Knee Hemarthrosis and Osteoarthritis.
Radiographics, 2021Roughly 37% of Americans 60 years of age and older experience chronic pain due to osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee. After conservative treatment (pharmacologic, physical therapy, and joint injections) fails, patients often require total knee arthroplasty ...

Scurvy developed in a 56-year-old man with poor dietary intake and was associated with knee hemarthroses and synovial thickening. The synovial membrane showed interstitial hemorrhage and many large fibroblasts but little collagen and some disarray of vascular basement membrane. Hemarthroses and all knee symptoms completely resolved on a normal diet. To

Traumatic hemarthrosis in stable knees
Acta Orthopaedica Scandinavica, 1986A thorough arthroscopic examination was performed in 90 consecutive patients with sprained knee injuries with hemarthrosis, but without signs of instability or fracture. The source of bleeding was found in all but five joints. Thirty-nine injuries were tears of the cruciate ligament, only three of which were complete tears.

Acute Hemarthrosis of the Adolescent Knee
The Physician and Sportsmedicine, 1989In brief: A serious knee injury can result in dysfunction and can thwart the promising career of a gifted young athlete if not accurately diagnosed and properly treated.
