Influence of Hydrogen Fuel Mixtures on the Oxide Scale Formation of Low‐Carbon Steels in Reheating Furnace Conditions

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
This work illustrates how substituting natural gas with hydrogen as fuel in the reheating furnace will influence the oxide scale formation on the steel surface. Thermogravimetric analysis and characterization techniques are used to investigate oxidation behavior and the formation of oxide phases.

Kinetics of Photoelectrochemical Oxidation of Methanol on Hematite Photoanodes

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2017
The kinetics of photoelectrochemical (PEC) oxidation of methanol, as a model organic substrate, on α-Fe2O3 photoanodes are studied using photoinduced absorption spectroscopy and transient photocurrent measurements.

Using Thermodynamics and Microstructure to Mitigate Overfitting in Pellet Reduction Models

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
A in time and space discretized, thermodynamically sound model for direct reduction of iron oxide pellets is described. The number of fitting parameters is drastically reduced compared to existing models. Nevertheless, fitting kinetic parameters based on conversion degree data alone leads to overfitting, which can be mitigated by correlating the ...

Hematite Cubes

open access: yes
AbstractThe methods of synthesis of hematite particles with different shapes are reviewed. Several experimental settings with suspensions of hematite particles are described considering their rolling, spinning in rotating (in vertical or horizontal plane) magnetic field.

Reduction, Softening, and Melting Characteristics of Mill Scale‐Based Briquettes for Blast Furnace Ironmaking

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
The study evaluates mill scale‐based briquettes, which meet industrial standards for shatter strength and exhibit a low decrepitation index. Despite their limited reducibility in nonisothermal reduction experiments, softening and melting results indicate potential application as a substitute for conventional acidic iron‐bearing materials for use in ...

The Application of Hydrochar Composite Briquettes for Sustainable Slag Foaming in the Electric Arc Furnace Process

open access: yessteel research international, EarlyView.
Hydrochar‐mill‐scale briquettes with varying C/O molar ratios (0.07–0.90) have been tested at 1650 °C to evaluate their slag foaming performance for electric arc furnace application. All seven briquette recipes developed succeed in promoting slag foaming.
