Bicrystalline Hematite Nanowires

The Journal of Physical Chemistry B, 2005
Bicrystalline nanowires of hematite (alpha-Fe(2)O(3)) have been successfully synthesized by the oxidation of pure iron. The product was characterized by X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), high-resolution TEM in combination with focal series reconstruction, energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy, and ...

Ultrathin Polycrystalline Hematite and Goethite−Hematite Core−Shell Nanorods

Langmuir, 2009
We have developed a facile synthesis route to 1D structures of ultrathin polycrystalline hematite and goethite-hematite core-shells. One-dimensional structures of pure hematite and the goethite-hematite core-shell with very small diameters were synthesized in aqueous solution at low temperature with a simple, rapid method based on the oxidation of ...

Role and Fate of Hematite in Titania Coated Hematite Photocatalysts

Journal of Advanced Oxidation Technologies, 2002
AbstractThis paper presents the characteristics of two different titania-hematite composite systems, namely titania-colloidal hematite particles and titania-nano hematite particles, and their use as photocatalysts. The transmission electron micrographs showed that the colloidal hematite particles were capped with layers of ...

Production of hematite concentrate from hematite-magnetite ore

Mining informational and analytical bulletin, 2020
The main useful minerals in composition of hematite-magnetite ore are magnetite and hematite. Magnetite is extracted by wet magnetic separation in weak magnetic field with production of magnetite concentrate and nonmagnetic product. The nonmagnetic product is a feed of the processing circuit for hematite.

Superparamagnetism in hematite

Earth and Planetary Science Letters, 1967
It is well known that small particles of ferromagnetic material show superparamagnetic behavior. The magnetic properties of hematite, which has a weak spontaneous magnetization show superparamagnetic behavior in grains which are as large as 1/4 to 1/2 μ in diameter.
