Rectal bleeding is an alarming symptom; it is definitely abnormal, and although the most common causes are benign, there is always the possibility of a more severe illness. Investigation of rectal bleeding has several aims: (1) to exclude a neoplasm, (2) to find the cause of the bleeding and (3) to stop the bleeding by the least invasive means possible.

Ileal Dieulafoy’s Lesion with Massive Hematochezia
Journal of the American College of Surgeons, 200728-year-old man presented with syncope after passing ark-red stool several times in 24 hours. He had no ematemesis, nausea, vomiting, or epigastralgia. The abomen was soft without tenderness. His hemoglobin as 7.2 g/dL and hematocrit was 20.5%. Panendosopy did not reveal any abnormality.
