Traumatic acute subdural hygroma mimicking acute subdural hematoma
Journal of Clinical Neuroscience, 2004Subdural hygroma is a frequent delayed complication of head trauma. Most hygromas are clinically 'silent' and a few cases have shown slow deterioration in the chronic stage. We report a case of subdural hygroma showing unique radiological findings and rapid deterioration.

Acute subdural hematoma and metastatic seminoma [PDF]
Acute and chronic nontraumatic subdural hematomas are rare complications of dural metastases from disseminated malignant neoplasms. We found an acute subdural hematoma in a patient with testicular seminoma metastatic to the dura.

Acute subdural hematomas of arterial origin
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1974✓ Five cases of acute subdural hematoma associated with bleeding from cortical arteries are described. In the four cases in which the affected vessel was examined histologically, there was a defect in the arterial wall secondary to avulsion of a small surface twig, which had apparently been traversing the subdural space.

Treatment of Acute Subdural Hematoma [PDF]
Three types of surgical treatment and adjunctive barbiturate therapy were evaluated by analyzing their outcome in patients with traumatic acute subdural hematoma. From June, 1982 to December, 1990, 120 patients underwent surgery for acute subdural hematoma at Kurume University Hospital.

Acute Subdural Hematoma After Subdural Punctures
Archives of Pediatrics & Adolescent Medicine, 1982The subdural puncture is a simple procedure in which either a short 20-gauge spinal needle or preferably a blunt subdural needle is introduced into the subdural space at the lateral border of the anterior fontanel. The procedure is used for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes. Complications are unusual. Matson1mentioned the possibility of a fistula if

Hemicraniectomy in the management of acute subdural hematoma
Journal of Neurosurgery, 1971✓ Acute subdural hematomas requiring surgical drainage as a life-saving procedure shortly after injury have been associated with mortality rates as high as 90%. Important factors include early diagnosis, complete clot removal, control of active bleeding, and provision for control of subsequent cerebral edema.

Acute spontaneous subdural hematoma in a teenager
Child's Nervous System, 1992A teenager with a history of sudden onset of headache and vomiting is described. Computed tomography revealed an acute subdural hematoma in the right temporoparietal region, causing marked compression of the right ventricular system and a shift of midline structures to the left.

Evolution from Acute Subdural Hematomas to Chronic Subdural Hematomas
1993We analyzed 52 patients of acute subdural hematoma treated conservatively because of mild clinical symptoms and/or thin subdural hematoma to elucidate the evolution from acute subdural hematomas to chronic subdural hematomas. Based on the follow-up CT findings, these patients were classified into two groups: subdural hematomas increased in size ...
