A 2-year-old boy was brought to our emergency department for pain along the cervical spinal cord area, preventing normal movements of the trunk and causing difficulty walking. The pain started without any apparent precipitating factors. There was no history of trauma, although his parents reported a habit of somersaults. He was in distress, had truncal

Pontine hematomas are very rare lesions that in the past were found at postmortem examination rather than diagnosed from the clinical presentation. The advent of computed tomography allowed more frequent identification of those lesions which has shown a more favorable prognosis than formerly thought. Hyperextension of the cervical spine in the elderly can cause retropharyngeal hematomas. We report this unusual cause of retropharyngeal hematoma in a 77-year-old women. The airway must be thoroughly evaluated in any such patient in whom this lesion is suspected.

Diseases of the Esophagus, 2006
Hematoma of the esophagus is an uncommon condition. Patients often present with acute odynophagia or retrosternal pain, which may be confused with other diagnoses. We report herein two patients with esophageal hematoma caused by foreign body ingestion. Conservative treatment resulted in complete resolution.

Two cases of corneal hematomas initially manifested as corneal blood staining, but were further complicated by the presence of persistent epithelial defects and stromal thinning. Both cases occurred following cataract surgery. Scanning electron and light microscopic examination in the second case demonstrated a loss of keratocytes, stromal collagen ...

Abstract Four cases of vertex epidural hematomas are presented to illustrate the unique management problems which set them apart from their more common counterparts located over the temporal convexity. Diagnosis requires a high degree of suspicion as vertex epidural hematomas are often missed by conventional horizontal scanning.
