Intrathoracic Extramedullary Hematopoiesis
Radiology, 1964Bone marrow production of the cellular elements of blood may be supplemented by foci of extramedullary hematopoiesis. This compensatory mechanism takes place when curtailed production or increased demand interferes with normal hematopoiesis. Extramedullary hematopoiesis has occurred in anemias associated with thalassemia, pernicious anemia, hereditary ...

Extramedullary Hematopoiesis in the Endometrium
International Journal of Gynecological Pathology, 2002Extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) in the endometrium is an extremely rare occurrence. Four of the eight previously reported cases were related to an underlying hematological disorder, although the remainder had no such relationship. We describe a case of endometrial EMH associated with retained products of conception after termination of pregnancy ...

Extramedullary Hematopoiesis in Pilomatricomas
The American Journal of Dermatopathology, 1995We report on seven adult patients with pilomatricomas showing histopathologic findings of extramedullary hematopoiesis. Presacral extramedullary hematopoiesis
Surgery, 2004CASE REPORT A 54-year-old man presented with abdominal pain. Thirty-four years before, he had undergone partial resection of the ileum, the details of which were unclear. Workup showed severe anastomotic stenosis. His history also included intractable anemia followed for 10 years. On computed tomography (CT) scan as a part of the preoperative survey, a

Extramedullary hematopoiesis in an adult
Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology, 2003Cutaneous extramedullary hematopoiesis is a rare disease, affecting mainly children with intrauterine viral or hematologic disorders. To our knowledge, only about 30 cases have been reported in adults, mainly associated with myelofibrosis. We report a new case of this entity in a 79-year-old woman and comment on the clinical and histologic differential

Extramedullary hematopoiesis in cerebellar hemangioblastoma
Neurosurgery, 1991Abstract Extramedullary hematopoiesis and paraneoplastic erythrocytosis are uncommon in cerebellar hemangioblastoma, and their concomitant occurrence has not been reported. In a study of 26 cases of hemangioblastoma, we found extramedullary hematopoiesis in 4 tumors; one was associated with erythrocytosis.
