Presacral extramedullary hematopoiesis
Surgery, 2004CASE REPORT A 54-year-old man presented with abdominal pain. Thirty-four years before, he had undergone partial resection of the ileum, the details of which were unclear. Case 69: Extramedullary Hematopoiesis
Radiology, 2004A 66-year-old man was found to be anemic and thrombocytopenic during his annual physical examination. Work-up with bone marrow evaluation revealed mild marrow fibrosis with marked megakaryocytic hyperplasia, a finding that is consistent with early myelofibrosis with myeloid metaplasia. The diagnosis was confirmed with cytogenic study of the bone marrow.

Extramedullary hematopoiesis in cerebellar hemangioblastoma
Neurosurgery, 1991Abstract Extramedullary hematopoiesis and paraneoplastic erythrocytosis are uncommon in cerebellar hemangioblastoma, and their concomitant occurrence has not been reported. In a study of 26 cases of hemangioblastoma, we found extramedullary hematopoiesis in 4 tumors; one was associated with erythrocytosis.

Cutaneous Extramedullary Hematopoiesis
Archives of Dermatology, 1976• An asymptomatic skin nodule in a patient with myelofibrosis was shown to consist of extramedullary hematopoiesis. It was a soft bluish nodule that resembled a hemangioma. Microscopically, both erythroid and myeloid cells, but not megakaryocytes, were found.
