Programmed Aggregation of Lipidated Nitrobenzoselenadiazole as a Photo‐Activatable Pyroptosis Inducer

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 14, Issue 24, September 18, 2025.
This study presents alkylated nitrobenzoselenadiazole (NBSD) photosensitizers that self‐assemble into programmable aggregates, enabling photo‐triggered pyroptosis and enhanced ROS generation. The lead compound, NBSD‐NOc, exhibits superior photodynamic activity, high cellular uptake, and implantable gel compatibility with pH‐responsive release.

Metal‐Ligand Complexes as Multifunctional Platforms for Photo‐Activated Cancer Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 35, September 18, 2025.
Metal‐ligand complexes serve as multifunctional platforms for photo‐activated cancer therapy, facilitating photothermal and photodynamic effects through light absorption and reactive oxygen species generation. This review categorizes these complexes by ligand and metal types, examines their roles in combined therapeutic approaches, and explores ...

Basic research on the biology of meta-tetra(hydroxyphenyl) chlorin for photodynamic therapy in gynaecology: Somatic genotoxicity assayed with Drosophila melanogaster [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The well-established SMART test, a somatic mutation and recombination assay of Drosophila, was applied to assess the possible genotoxicity of sublethal meta-tetra(hydroxyphenyl) chlorin (mTHPC) photodynamic therapy (PDT) to clonogenic cells in situ.
