Mordant blue 3 may be used as a suhstitute for hematoxylin in hematoxylin and eosin stains. The staining solution consists of 0.25 g dye, 40 ml of 10% iron dam, 5 ml of cone H2SO4, and 955 ml of dirtilled H2O. Staining the is 5 minutes, followed by differentiation in acid water or acid alcohol.
