In Situ Laser Fenestration for Subclavian Preservation During Aortic Dissection Repair

open access: yesCase Reports in Vascular Medicine, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Laser fenestration is a novel technique to create an opening in an endograft to maintain perfusion to the arch vessels during thoracic endovascular aortic repair (TEVAR). A 40‐year‐old female who had undergone an emergent ascending aortic repair for acute dissection presented with aneurysmal degeneration of the descending thoracic aorta.

Confined Acute Type A Aortic Dissection is Characterized by Atherosclerosis

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Surgery, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Objectives Ascending aortic atherosclerosis and degeneration may influence surgical management and outcome following surgery for acute Type A aortic dissection (ATAAD). The aim of this study was to evaluate the association between histologically confirmed ascending aortic atherosclerosis and postoperative outcome in patients undergoing surgery for ...

Outcomes of Reoperative Aortic Surgery Following Acute Type A Aortic Dissection Repair

open access: yesJournal of Cardiac Surgery, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Objectives Little is known regarding outcomes of aortic surgery following acute type A aortic dissection (ATAAD) repair. We aimed to assess outcomes of open aortic reoperations following ATAAD repair. Methods All aortic reoperations at a single institution (2005–2024) following prior ATAAD repair were reviewed.
