On‐line hemodiafiltration at home

AbstractSurvival with online hemodiafiltration (OL‐HDF) is higher than with hemodialysis; frequent hemodialysis has also improved survival and quality of life. Home hemodialysis facilitates frequent therapy. We report our experience with 2 patients with stage 5 CKD who started home hemodialysis with OL‐HDF in November 2016.

Evolution of Hemodiafiltration

The evolution of hemodiafiltration (HDF) has become possible by the advances in the construction of dialysis membranes. The availability of a high-flux membrane, partially hydrophilic with high sieving coefficients and a reduced wall thickness has made it possible to conveniently combine diffusion and convection for blood purification.
