Impact of hemodialysis duration on the removal of uremic retention solutes [PDF]

open access: yesKidney International, 2008
Several studies have stressed the importance of dialysis time in the removal of uremic retention solutes. To further investigate this, nine stable chronic hemodialysis patients were dialyzed for 4, 6, or 8 h processing the same total blood and dialysate volume by the Genius system and high-flux FX80 dialyzers.

Association Between Individualized Education for Kidney Replacement Therapy Modality Selection and Peritoneal Dialysis Initiation: A Cross‐Sectional Study

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) is an established home‐based kidney replacement therapy (KRT), but its uptake remains low in Japan. We evaluated whether individualized education in a dedicated outpatient clinic was associated with the initiation of PD.

Normal‐Appearing White Matter Injury Mediates Chronic Deep Venous Hypoxia and Disease Progression in Multiple Sclerosis

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To explore how cerebral hypoxia and Normal‐Appearing White Matter (NAWM) integrity affect MS lesion burden and clinical course. Methods Seventy‐nine MS patients, including 13 clinically isolated syndrome (CIS) patients and 66 relapsing–remitting multiple sclerosis (RRMS) patients, and 44 healthy controls (HCs) were recruited from ...

A mathematical approach to hemodialysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
Hemodialysis may be investigated by utilizing a laboratory system composed of a reservoir, hemodialysis unit, and bath solution. The effect of the Kolff-type dialysis unit is to permit diffusion of solute and to filter solvent and solute while pressure ...

Enhancing Blood Circulation With Epsilon‐Near‐Zero (ENZ) Materials via the Far‐Infrared Window of Human Skin

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Epsilon‐near‐zero (ENZ) silicon carbide enables a selective far‐infrared emitter spectrally aligned with the human skin window around 10 µm for wavelength‐matched thermal therapy. In 25 within‐subject trials (50 hands) monitored by laser speckle contrast imaging, SiC increases blood perfusion by 30.2% versus a broadband graphite emitter while ...

Nursing problems an their solution in weekly hemodialysis.

open access: yesJournal of Japanese Society for Dialysis Therapy, 1990
