Percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty in a pregnant patient with pulmonary bioprosthetic valve stenosis

open access: yesRevista Médica del Hospital General de México, 2022
The pulmonary valve’s anomalies can lead to the obstruction of the right ventricle’s outflow tract. This leads to the right ventricle’s pressure overload, dilation, hypertrophy and eventually his malfunction.

Imaging hemodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesCancer and Metastasis Reviews, 2008
Microvascular permeability is a pharmacologic indicator of tumor response to therapy, and it is expected that this biomarker will evolve into a clinical surrogate endpoint and be integrated into protocols for determining patient response to antiangiogenic or antivascular therapies.

Machine learning-enabled estimation of cardiac output from peripheral waveforms is independent of blood pressure measurement location in an in silico population

open access: yesScientific Reports
Monitoring of cardiac output (CO) is a mainstay of hemodynamic management in the acutely or critically ill patient. Invasive determination of CO using thermodilution, albeit regarded as the gold standard, is cumbersome and bears risks inherent to ...

Advances in the Diagnosis and Management of High-Risk Cardiovascular Conditions: Biomarkers, Intracoronary Imaging, Artificial Intelligence, and Novel Anticoagulants

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Development and Disease
Understanding thrombosis in acute coronary syndromes (ACSs) has evolved through advances in biomarkers, intracoronary imaging, and emerging analytical tools, improving diagnostic accuracy and risk stratification in high-risk patients.

Sex differences in vascular hemodynamics in middle-aged and older adults

open access: yes, 2021
Access to thesis permanently restricted to Ball State community only.Cardiovascular disease-related (CVD) mortality with older age is in part attributable to altered vascular hemodynamics including increased central and peripheral blood pressure (BP ...

Prognosis of Long‐Term Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy and the Impact of Combined Continuous Intravenous Sodium Infusion Therapy

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Patients requiring long‐term continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) generally have poor prognoses. This study evaluated whether adding continuous intravenous sodium infusion (cIVNa) is associated with improved hemodynamics and outcomes in patients undergoing long‐term CRRT for ≥ 7 days.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

CASP1 Gene Polymorphisms and BAT1-NFKBIL-LTA-CASP1 Gene–Gene Interactions Are Associated with Restenosis after Coronary Stenting

open access: yesBiomolecules, 2022
In the present study, we evaluated the association of the BAT1, NFKBIL, LTA, and CASP1 single nucleotide polymorphisms and the gene–gene interactions with risk of developing restenosis after coronary stenting. The allele and genotype determination of the

Cognition and Hemodynamics [PDF]

open access: yesCurrent Cardiovascular Risk Reports, 2012
The relationship between cerebral hemodynamics and cognitive performance has increasingly become recognized as a major challenge in clinical practice for older adults. Both diabetes and hypertension worsen brain perfusion and are major risk factors for cerebrovascular disease, stroke and dementia.
