Multitest Screening in Hematology [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The concept of multitest screening for hematological disorders is not necessarily a new one. Implementation of such ideas has recently become possible, for the automated electronic instruments performing sequential multiple analyses within very short ...

Polysaccharide Adjuvants as Innate Immune Trainers: Bridging Pattern Recognition Receptor (PRR) Activation and Metabolic Reprogramming for Synthetic Vaccine Design

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Polysaccharides modulate immune responses by engaging pattern recognition receptors (PRRs) to induce T‐cell activation. In vaccine design, their particle size critically influences lymph node targeting and activation mechanisms. By engineering structural complexity and multivalent PRR engagement, polysaccharides enable precise modulation of immune ...

Redox‐Responsive Tellurium‐Bridged Covalent Organic Frameworks/PEG Composites for Targeted Therapy of Diabetic Cardiomyopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unlocks the immense potential of COF@polymer nanocomposites as a multifunctional therapeutic platform for targeted drug delivery in diabetic cardiomyopathy. Abstract Diabetic cardiomyopathy, a major complication of diabetes, is strongly associated with elevated levels of glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) and reactive oxygen species (ROS). However,

Cinnamic‐Hydroxamic‐Acid Derivatives Exhibit Antibiotic, Anti‐Biofilm, and Supercoiling Relaxation Properties by Targeting Bacterial Nucleoid‐Associated Protein HU

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cinnamic‐hydroxamic‐acid derivatives (CHADs) are identified as novel inhibitors of the bacterial nucleoid‐associated protein HU, exhibiting potent antibacterial, anti‐biofilm (both inhibition and eradication), and DNA relaxation (anti‐supercoiling) activities. Moreover, CHADs demonstrate strong synergistic effects with multiple antibiotics.

HB Setif [A94(Gi)Asp+Tyr] in Malta [PDF]

open access: yes, 1997
Since testing of newborn infants for abnormal hemoglobins (Hbs) was reinitiated in Malta in 1989, about 20,000 cord blood samples have been studied with an isoelectrofocusing (IEF) technique (1). Among these, 2% have an abnormal Hb, i.e. 1.8% have a y-

Single‐Position Peptide Clustering for Peptidomics Reveals Novel Disease Biomarkers and Dysregulated Proteolytic Characteristics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel amino acid (aa)‐score‐based single‐position peptide clustering strategy is developed for peptidomics, enabling precise profiling of protein proteolysis in plasma from β‐thalassemia cohort. The method identifies new aa position‐based peptide cluster biomarkers validated by heavy‐labeled peptides, visualizes aggregated changes, uncovers disease ...

Acute lymphoblastic leukemia in a child with hemoglobins S and Q-Iran

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 1990
A 13-year-old girl with acute lymphoblastic leukemia is presented. The peripheral smear showed, in addition to lymphoblasts, marked anisocytosis, poikilocytosis, and polychromasia. In vitro sickling test was positive. Hemoglobin electrophoresis at
