Only a limited number of the numerous protozoan parasites described from reptiles and amphibians cause pathogenic processes or are the cause of death of Poikilothermic animals. Few investigations exist dealing with such problems, while on the other hand, the majority of publications are descriptions of new species or reports of new hosts having been ...

Live vaccine against hemoparasitic disease in livestock
Veterinary Parasitology, 1995Live vaccines against hemoparasitic diseases in livestock are based on parasites derived from culture (Theileria annulata), from blood of infected animals (Babesia bovis, Babesia bigemina, Anaplasma centrale, (attenuated) Anaplasma marginale and Cowdria ruminantium), and from ticks (Theileria parva). The T. annulata attenuated cultured schizont vaccine

Molecular identification of hemoparasites in ixodid ticks in Iran
Veterinary Parasitology: Regional Studies and ReportsA total of 386 ticks were processed in order to investigate the occurrence of selected tick transmitted pathogens (i.e., Theileria, Babesia, Hepatozoon and Cytauxzoon) in ixodid ticks in six provinces of Iran (East Azerbaijan, Gilan, Kermanshah, Khuzestan, Sistan & Baluchestan and Tehran). Ticks identified as Dermacentor marginatus, Hyalomma aegyptium,

[Hemoparasites in wild birds in Madagascar].
Archives de l'Institut Pasteur de Madagascar, 2003This study aims to evaluate the prevalence and density of haemoparasites in native Malagasy birds. Among the 387 birds, belonging to 43 species sampled at six localities in different bio-climatic zones of the island, 139 (35.9%) showed at least 1 hemoparasite with, by order of frequency, Plasmodium and/or Haemoproteus (19.9%), microfilariae (13.7% of ...

Targeting ticks for control of selected hemoparasitic diseases of cattle
Veterinary Parasitology, 1995Development in and transmission of hemoparasites by tick vectors are phenomena closely synchronized with the tick feeding cycle. In all known life cycles, initial infection of tick tissues occurs in midgut epithelial cells and transmission is effected as ticks feed after parasites have developed and multiplied in salivary glands.
