Endoscopic hemostasis state of the art - Nonvariceal bleeding

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2016
New endoscopic techniques for hemostasis in nonvariceal bleeding were introduced and known methods further improved. Hemospray and Endoclot are two new compounds for topical treatment of bleeding. Initial studies in this area have shown a good hemostatic effect, especially in active large scale oozing bleeding, e.g., tumor bleedings.

Autonomous Robotic Suction to Clear the Surgical Field for Hemostasis using Image-based Blood Flow Detection [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Autonomous robotic surgery has seen significant progression over the last decade with the aims of reducing surgeon fatigue, improving procedural consistency, and perhaps one day take over surgery itself. However, automation has not been applied to the critical surgical task of controlling tissue and blood vessel bleeding--known as hemostasis.

Emergencies after endoscopic procedures [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Endoscopy adverse events (AEs), or complications, are a rising concern on the quality of endoscopic care, given the technical advances and the crescent complexity of therapeutic procedures, over the entire gastrointestinal and bilio-prancreatic tract. In

UPPER GASTROINTESTINAL BLEEDING:IS ONLY AN INJECTION OF EPINEPHRINE SUFFICIENT? SUCCES RATES BY FORREST CLASSIFICATION

open access: yesSanamed, 2020
Objective: Endoscopic treatment is an effective and successful treatment for non-variceal upper gastrointestinal system (GIS) bleedings. In recent years, endoscopic combined therapies have been recommended for hemostasis.

Risk Factors for Bleeding After Gastric Endoscopic Submucosal Dissection: a Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Postprocedural bleeding (PPB) is the most common adverse event associated with endoscopic resection. Several studies have tried to identify risk factors for PPB after gastric EMR and endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD), with ...

Endoscopic hemostatic spray for uncontrolled bleeding after complicated endoscopic mucosal resection or endoscopic submucosal dissection: a report of 2 cases

open access: yesVideoGIE, 2021
Background and Aims: There is a significant bleeding risk after gastric endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) and EMR cases. This case series describes the use of an endoscopic hemostasis spray, which is not typically used to treat this type of bleeding,

Noninvasive endoscopic hemostasis technique for post‐papillectomy bleeding using a novel self‐assembling peptide (with video)

open access: yesJGH Open, 2023
Although a novel hemostatic agent has been used for endoscopic mucosal resection in submucosal dissection, there are few case reports of its use in pancreato‐biliary endoscopic procedures.

A Three-limb Teleoperated Robotic System with Foot Control for Flexible Endoscopic Surgery [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
Flexible endoscopy requires high skills to manipulate both the endoscope and associated instruments. In most robotic flexible endoscopic systems, the endoscope and instruments are controlled separately by two operators, which may result in communication errors and inefficient operation.

Endoscopic hemostasis for hemorrhage from an ileal diverticulum

open access: yesWorld Journal of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy, 2011
Hemorrhage from a non-Meckelian jejunoileal diverticulum is rare, and it is generally difficult to diagnose the source of the bleeding. Here, we report the case of a 59-year-old male with hemorrhage from an ileal diverticulum. Contrast computed tomography scans demonstrated the ileal diverticulum and extravasation of the contrast medium around it.
