[Hepatitis C: risk factors].

open access: yesRevista de gastroenterologia de Mexico, 2003
Risk factors associated to at least 50% of hepatitis C cases are blood transfusion and injection-drug use. Less important factors are high-risk sexual behavior, job appointment in a healthcare setting and hemodialysis. Intra-familial and perinatal transmission are minor contributors to the overall prevalence of infection.

Decellularized Extracellular Matrix Scaffolds to Engineer the Dormant Landscape of Microscopic Colorectal Cancer Liver Metastasis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Decellularized liver extracellular matrix scaffolds provide a platform to study dormant liver‐metastatic colorectal cancer. They induce reversible dormancy, in combination with nutrient depletion and low dose chemotherapy, through cell cycle arrest and chemotherapy resistance.

The Distribution of Complement Proteins in Soft and Hard Coronas Impacts Macrophage Uptake of Nanoparticles

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Protein corona plays a critical role in the biological behavior of nanoparticles. This study investigates the distribution of complement proteins in soft corona and their impact on the macrophage uptake of polymer nanoparticles. It underlines the significance of soft corona investigation for understanding in vivo performance of nanomedicines.

Doxorubicin‐Loaded Metal–Organic Framework for Ferroptosis‐Enhanced Chemotherapy Through Sustained Zn Release and Glutathione Peroxidase Downregulation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A robust zinc‐based metal–organic framework (ZnMOF) enables dual functions of doxorubicin delivery and sustained Zn2+ release to trigger ferroptosis‐enhnaced chemotherapy. DOX@ZnMOF effectively depletes intracellular glutathione, suppresses GPX4, and elevates reactive oxygen species, leading to efficient oxidative DNA damage and apoptosis.

Inhibition of eEF2 kinase ameliorates hepatic injury induced by ACR through regulation of the MAPK pathway

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety
Background and aims: Acrylamide (ACR) induces hepatotoxicity, yet its underlying mechanisms remain incompletely understood. Our prior proteomic analysis of serum from occupationally ACR-exposed individuals identified significantly elevated levels of ...

Evaluating the Antiviral Efficacy of Encapsulated PKC Inhibitor BIM‐I against influenza A Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores nanoparticle delivery of the protein kinase C inhibitor bisindolylmaleimide‐I (BIM‐I) to combat influenza A virus infections. Encapsulation in biodegradable PLGA nanoparticles improved safety while maintaining the compound's strong antiviral activity.

Mesenchymal Stem Cell‐Derived Apoptotic Micro‐Vesicles Repaired Sciatic Nerve Defect by Regulating Early Inflammatory Microenvironment and Promoting Angiogenesis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
HUCMSC‐Apo‐mvs enhance peripheral nerve repair by modulating the inflammatory microenvironment (IME), primarily through coordinated actions on three functional cells. They recruit macrophages and promote their polarization from pro‐inflammatory M1 to anti‐inflammatory M2 phenotypes, increasing secretion of IL‐10 and VEGF.

Pantothenic acid ameliorates hepatic fibrosis by targeting IGFBP6 to regulate the TGF-β/SMADs pathway

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Hepatic fibrosis progression involves complex multicellular crosstalk, highlighting the critical need to identify key therapeutic targets. In this study, we identify insulin-like growth factor binding protein 6 (IGFBP6) as a marker specifically enriched ...
