Endothelium capture‐based liver segment imaging using vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 in preclinical ex vivo models

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 332-341, April 2020., 2020
Imaging of liver segments provides substantial information for surgeons when performing liver resection. The anti‐vascular endothelial growth factor receptor (VEGFR) 2 antibody ramucirumab conjugated with near‐infrared dye could visualize selected liver segments using an endothelial capture‐based approach in an isolated perfusion liver model.

Influence of socioeconomic status on immediate breast reconstruction rate, patient information and involvement in surgical decision‐making

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 2, Page 232-240, April 2020., 2020
Socioeconomic factors independently influence immediate breast reconstruction rates in Sweden. Patient‐reported information and involvement in the surgical decision‐making process remain independent predictors of the likelihood of undergoing immediate breast reconstruction.

Percutaneous radiofrequency‐assisted liver partition versus portal vein embolization before hepatectomy for perihilar cholangiocarcinoma

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 101-108, February 2020., 2020
Percutaneous radiofrequency‐assisted liver partition with portal vein embolization in staged liver resection (PRALPPS), modIfied ALPPS with reduced surgical trauma on the first stage, was used in 11 patients with perihilar cholangiocarcinoma. PRALPPS did not differ from portal vein embolization (PVE) in terms of morbidity or mortality.

Influence of primary tumour and patient factors on survival in patients undergoing curative resection and treatment for liver metastases from colorectal cancer

open access: yesBJS Open, Volume 4, Issue 1, Page 118-132, February 2020., 2020
Prognostic factors for the primary colorectal tumour also affect the outcome after surgery for liver metastases. Although performance status and complications after primary resection also influence outcome after liver resection, other factors such as older age and female sex do not, but these patients are still underrepresented in the liver surgical ...
