Hepatitis hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) is an acute infectious disease caused by fowl adenovirus serotype-4 (FAdV-4), which mainly affects broilers aged 4-5 wk. During the winter of January 2021, a 32-day-old broiler flock (Cobb-500) suffered from unusually high mortality (15%) in the Alexandria Governorate, Egypt.

Hepatitis Hydropericardium syndrome (HHS) is an acute infectious disease affecting broiler chickens. It is caused by a fowl adenovirus (FAdV) of Group I, serotype 4. This disease is characterized by sudden deaths in broilers as young as three weeks, with mortality rates reaching up to 65%.
