Survival, safety and belonging: An ethnographic study of experiences and perceptions of people who inject drugs accessing a supervised injecting Centre

open access: yesAustralian Journal of Social Issues, Volume 57, Issue 4, Page 829-846, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Introduction The inclusion of people who use drugs in the design and evaluation of their health services remains a relatively new phenomenon. The aim of the research was to explore the experiences and perceptions of people accessing the Medical Supervised Injecting Centre (MSIC), and Clinic 180, Sydney Australia, and the factors facilitating ...

Delta hepatitis [PDF]

open access: yesExpert Review of Anti-infective Therapy, 2009
Hepatitis delta virus (HDV) is a defective RNA virus that requires HBsAg for replication and transmission. It can cause acute or chronic hepatitis. Chronic infection with HDV is one of the most severe and difficult to treat forms of viral hepatitis. It has been estimated that there is a total of 15-20 million HDV carriers in the world.

Evaporation‐Enhanced Redox Cycling for Rapid Detection of Attomolar SARS‐CoV‐2 Virions Using Nanolithography‐Free Electrochemical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
This study presents microfabricated electrochemical sensors for detecting ultralow viral particles counts through evaporation‐enhanced redox cycling (E2RC). To achieve sub‐micrometer gap in interdigitated microelectrodes, a scalable, nanolithography‐free fabrication method is developed.

Mathematical Model and Analysis of Transmission Dynamics of Hepatitis B Virus [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
Hepatitis B is a potentially life-threatening liver infection caused by the hepatitis B virus (HBV). In this paper, the transmission dynamics of hepatitis B is formulated with a mathematical model with considerations of different classes of individuals, namely immunized, susceptible, latent, infected and recovered class.

Hepatitis C Screening in the Homeless Population of Philadelphia [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Hepatitis C is a viral infectious disease that is a major cause of liver disease around the world. By the 1970s, it was recognized that many hepatitis cases were not due to the known hepatitis A or hepatitis B viruses.

Enhanced Epithelial Cell Uptake of Glycol Chitosan‐Coated PLGA Nanoparticles for Oral Drug Delivery

open access: yesAdvanced Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Here, glycol chitosan (GC)‐coated PLGA NPs are developed to enhance oral drug delivery by enabling dual‐pathway endocytosis via clathrin‐ and caveolae‐mediated mechanisms. Alginate layering coating on GC‐PLGA further improves oral insulin delivery, achieving sustained glucose reduction in diabetic mice.
