Detection of virus antigens: Hepatitis B antigen

Metabolism, 1973
Abstract Hepatitis B virus is the infectious agent that causes hepatitis of the long incubation variety and frequently is transmitted by blood transfusions. Hepatitis B antigen (HB Ag, Australia antigen) is an immunologic marker of hepatitis B virus and is found in serum of patients with acute hepatitis and in chronic carriers.

Antibodies. to Hepatitis B Core Antigen in Hepatitis B Surface Antigen-Positive and -Negative Chronic Hepatitis

Journal of Infectious Diseases, 1977
Antibody to hepatitis B core antigen (anti-HBc) is a sensitive indicator of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection. However, anti-HBc has been found in only a few patients with chronic hepatitis. Therefore, we tested for anti-HBc in 124 sera from 67 patients with histologically proven chronic hepatitis by the indirect fluorescent antibody technique.

HEPATITIS-B ANTIGEN IN COLONY MOSQUITOES

The Lancet, 1973
Abstract Aedes aegypti mosquitoes were fed on or inoculated with blood or serum positive for hepatitis-B antigen (HBAg) or allowed to feed on the arm of an HBAg carrier. Pools of mosquitoes were tested by radioimmunoassay at intervals up to 45 days after exposure to HBAg. HBAg was detected long after the blood itself would have been digested.

Antibodies to Hepatitis B Surface Antigen

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1985
Excerpt To the editor: The article by Kessler and colleagues (1) is of general interest because it shows, once again, that antibodies to hepatitis B surface antigen (anti-HBs), at least as they are...
