Socioeconomic determinants of vaccination against pneumococcus in 763 945 patients with heart failure

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 5, Page 3750-3754, October 2025.
Respiratory infections heighten risks for heart failure (HF) patients, yet 2020 data from France show low vaccination rates: 12.6% for pneumococcus and 63.1% for influenza. Using logistic regression on 763,945 HF patients, older age, female sex, and social deprivation were associated with lower pneumococcus vaccination, despite frequent healthcare ...

Administration of the NOD2 Agonist MDP Reduces Cryptosporidium parvum Infection in Neonatal Mice Through IL‐22 Involvement

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Immunology, Volume 55, Issue 10, October 2025.
Neonatal mice infected with C. parvum and treated with MDP, a NOD2 agonist, exhibited reduced intestinal infection. This protective effect was mediated by a local immune response involving neutrophil recruitment, IL‐22 production, antimicrobial peptide expression, and epithelial regeneration in an IFN‐γ‐dependent manner.

EHA–EU MCL network guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of mantle cell lymphoma

open access: yesHemaSphere, Volume 9, Issue 10, October 2025.
Abstract Mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) is a relatively rare B‐cell lymphoma subtype, with a higher incidence among males and a median age of 70 years at diagnosis. MCL is characterized by clinically diverse behavior, from indolent disease to extremely aggressive, related to the presence of biological risk factors such as proliferation rate and TP53 ...

Prevalence and Associated Factors of Needlestick and Sharp Injuries Among Healthcare Workers in a Tertiary Care Hospital, Mogadishu, Somalia: A Prospective Single‐Center Study

open access: yesHealth Science Reports, Volume 8, Issue 10, October 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Needlestick and sharp injuries (NSSIs) represent a major occupational hazard for healthcare workers (HCWs), posing serious health risks and psychological stress. Globally, millions of HCWs experience such injuries each year, with the burden disproportionately higher in low‐resource settings.
