Note : Specialized wing scales in the male of the South African moth Leto venus (Cramer, 1780) (Lepidoptera: Hepialidae)

The presence of erects rows of elongate rod-like scales on the ventral wing surface and hindwing dorsal surface of Leto venus is illustrated and described. The scales lack basal swellings that are indicative of pheromone secretion.
