Pariana caxiuanensis (Parianinae, Poaceae): a new species of an enigmatic genus of herbaceous bamboos from the Brazilian Amazon

Phytotaxa, 2021
Pariana caxiuanensis (Poaceae) is described and illustrated as a new species from the Brazilian Amazon. The new species is characterized by having the leaves clustered at the apex of the leafy culm, fimbriae few to absent, dimorphic flowering culms, large ligules (2.5–4 mm long), and pubescent to hirsute synflorescences.

Immature stages and new host plant records for four satyrine species feeding on herbaceous bamboos in southeastern Peru (Lepidoptera: Nymphalidae: Satyrinae: Satyrini)

Zootaxa, 2022
We here document the immature stages of three euptychiine butterflies, Nhambikuara mima (Butler, 1867), Splendeuptychia furina (Hewitson, 1862), and Paryphthimoides brixius (Godart, [1824]), all found feeding on a species of herbaceous bamboo, Taquara micrantha (Kunth) I.L.C.Oliveira & R.P.Oliveira (Poaceae: Bambusoideae: Olyreae) in Madre de Dios,

Morphometrics of herbaceous bamboos of the Raddia brasiliensis complex (Poaceae − Bambusoideae): implications for the taxonomy of the genus and new species from Brazil

Plant Systematics and Evolution, 2007
Morphometric studies were conducted using 25 quantitative characters in 14 populations of the Raddia brasiliensis complex, occurring from Ceara to Rio de Janeiro States, Brazil, in order to identify how many entities exist in this group and how they can be distinguished morphologically.

Historical biogeography of the herbaceous bamboo tribe Olyreae (Bambusoideae: Poaceae)

Folia Geobotanica, 2019
The tribe Olyreae comprises 124 understorey herbaceous bamboos species and almost all of its species are distributed in the Neotropics. Only Buergersiochloa bambusoides is found in New Guinea, and Olyra latifolia has a disjunct distribution in tropical America, Africa and Madagascar.

Endemic Herbaceous Bamboo Genera of Cuba (Poaceae: Bambusoideae: Olyreae)

Annals of the Missouri Botanical Garden, 1993
A morphological, anatomical, and taxonomic study of the endemic herbaceous bamboo (Poaceae: Bambusoideae: Olyreae) genera Ekmanochloa and Mniochloa (including its new segregate Piresiella) is presented Piresiella strephioides is proposed. An unusual feature of all three genera is the presence of inflorescences consisting of paired, conjugate racemes ...

Eremitis limae (Poaceae, Bambusoideae), a new species of herbaceous bamboo endemic to the Atlantic Forest of Bahia, Brazil

Phytotaxa, 2020
Eremitis limae, a new species of Parianinae (Poaceae, Bambusoideae, Olyreae) endemic to the coastal forests of Bahia, Brazil, is described and illustrated. It is morphologically similar to species of Eremitis with characteristically narrow leaves: E. linearifolia, E. parviflora, and E. riodocensis. We discuss the morphological characters distinguishing

Diandrolyra Tatianae (Poaceae: Olyreae), a New Herbaceous Bamboo from Brazil

Brittonia, 1985
The provenance of the genusDiandrolyra, described in 1906 from cultivation, was not known until the discovery of several new species in the eastern coastal forests of Brazil. A description and illustration is given of one of these,Diandrolyra tatianae, thus far collected in the states of Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Callus induction and plant regeneration from lateral shoots of herbaceous bamboo Mniochloa abersend

The Journal of Horticultural Science and Biotechnology, 2016
ABSTRACTCallus induction and plant regeneration of Mniochloa abersend via lateral shoots were conducted in this study. Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 1.0 mg/L 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D) and 1.0 mg/L naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) was effective for compact callus induction.

Reinterpretation of Vegetative and Reproductive Characters Validates Three New Species in the Endangered Herbaceous Bamboo Genus Eremitis (Poaceae, Bambusoideae, Olyreae) from the Atlantic Forest, Brazil

Systematic Botany, 2021
Abstract— Reinterpreting the morphology of two taxa proposed by Victoria C. Hollowell in the 1980s and not formally published, we describe here three new species of Eremitis, a Neotropical genus of herbaceous bamboos (Poaceae, Bambusoideae, Olyreae), which is endemic to the Brazilian Atlantic Forest. Two of them, Eremitis grandiflora and E. paucifolia,
