Fecundity Allocation in Herbaceous Plants
Oikos, 1992The relationship between fecundity and plant size (fecundity allocation) was studied in twenty-one herbaceous species collected from natural populations. Within species, size/fecundity regressions were predominantly linear but the slopes often varied significantly among sites. Species varied widely in r2 and slope.

Endophyte-Mediated Biocontrol of Herbaceous and Non-herbaceous Plants
2013All plants in natural ecosystems appear to be symbiotic with endophytes. This includes many economically important agricultural products as well as essential food crops. The endophytes confer fitness benefits to their hosts in various and variable aspects such as growth enhancement and increased reproductive success and confer tolerance to biotic and ...

Quantification of Cyanamide Contents in Herbaceous Plants
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2006Cyanamide (NH2CN) is found in nature, although it has long been recognized as an industrial product. Distribution of cyanamide in the plant kingdom was investigated using a direct quantitative determination method to detect and measure cyanamide by stable isotope dilution gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (the SID-GC-MS method). The SID-GC-MS method

ANTIOXIDANT COMPOUNDS IN SOME HERBACEOUS AROMATIC PLANTS
Acta Horticulturae, 1998Fats and oils, contained in many foods and cosmetics, may easily deteriorate due to oxidative processes, causing both the development of off-flavours and the formation of free radicals, that may lead to various undesired chemical reactions. In order to prevent this process, some special synthetic substances, such as BHT (butylated hydroxytoluene) and ...

Developmental models of herbaceous plants
1990The examples of trees presented in the previous chapter introduce L- systems as a plant modeling tool. They also illustrate one of the most striking features of the generative approach to modeling, called data base amplification [136]. This term refers to the generation of complex- looking objects from very concise descriptions—in our case, L-systems ...

Husbandry of Small Herbaceous Plants
2000Abstract One problem that has long perplexed scholars interested in prehistoric and early indigenous agriculture involves delineating the point at which gathering wild plant resources ended and agriculture began, or determining if specific plants were collected from naturally occurring stands, planted, or some variant of both (Keegan ...
