Local environment shapes habitat suitability of the endangered mint Dicerandra cornutissima

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, EarlyView.
Using a fine‐scale ecological niche model at 250 m resolution, we identified suitable habitat for the extremelynarrow endemic Dicerandra cornutissima across its known and surrounding range. Field validation confirmed characteristic habitat at predicted suitable sites, while gap analysis showed that only 26% of suitable habitat occurs within protected ...

Similar or Different? Configurations of Authenticity Across Museum Types

open access: yesCurator: The Museum Journal, EarlyView.

Biology of the Gall Midge Spanolepis selloanae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae), a Candidate Biological Control Agent of the Invasive Grass Cortaderia selloana

open access: yesEntomologia Experimentalis et Applicata, EarlyView.
Spanolepis selloanae (Diptera, Cecidomyiidae) infests Cortaderia selloana (pampas grass). It lays eggs in the spikelets, where larvae feed on female parts. The high prevalence of the midge and its combined impact in seed production, condition and viability strongly reduces the reproductive output of C. selloana.

Broussonetia papyrifera (L.) L’Hér. ex Vent., Microstegium vimineum (Trin.) A.Camus and Parthenium hysterophorus L. imported into the Netherlands via potted ornamentals or their coco peat substrate

open access: yesEPPO Bulletin, EarlyView.
Abstract While the presence of invasive plants as contaminants in potted plants is a well‐known phenomenon, its significance as a potential phytosanitary risk remains frequently underestimated. Coco peat, often used as a growing medium for potted plants, is also imported as a standalone commodity, creating an additional pathway for introduction.
